Your First Fallout Experience

  • Fallout 3 brought tons of newcomers to the post-apocalyptic world and history of Fallout.  The first games were still juggernauts in the RPG world before Black Isle Studios closed its doors.  I was one of the newcomers to the series when I got Fallout 3.  It was my first Fallout experience.  Which game was yours?

  • Fallout 1.  I remember my neighbor showed it to me 11 years ago or so and taught me how to play it, along with Fallout 2 and a bunch of other old PC games.  Then I bought the Fallout titles for myself for the Mac (I know that's very random) and kept playing them until they stopped working after an OS update a few years ago (which led me to buy a PC so I could play them again, as well as rediscover a bunch of old PC games I hadn't played since getting a Mac).  I appreciate and understand the first two Fallout games a lot more now then all those years ago (as in, how the mechanics work, the lore, what they represented in the RPG industry, etc.), but back then, I don't know.  I think there was just something cool to my younger self about shooting people in the balls and then watching them explode on occasion, and there still is; it's just not the main reason I like Fallout nowadays.  But it was just a very cool game and it helped having my neighbor explain it to me and get me immersed in the game more

I knew you'd be the first member to reply.

  • I think we're the only two people active on this forum right now (and I just reply whenever I get an email update)

  • Yeah, I think so, too.  I hate it when this happens in the groups.

  • Well my first Fallout experience was at my cousins house. He hired it out from the video shop and I watched him play it. It looked very different from all the other games I used to play 4-5 years ago. I then bought the GOTY edition and still love it to this very day...along with New Vegas. :)

  • I bought 3 on the Live market a few weeks ago, the minute I stepped outside of Vault 101 I get ganked by a radscorpion.

    I don't know what I'm doing

  • I first played Fallout 3 at my cousins house, (just like davokiin).  I had never even heard of the game, I played through the experience in vault 101, and being thrown out into the wasteland knocked me for a loop. I had no idea what to do.Springvale Elementary Scared me so bad that I didn't go back in for the first half of the game. I ran out of caps before i left megaton paying for doctors and ammo, and, as a good character, I could steal or kill so i was left selling garbage to Moira at the Craterside supply. it was the best gaming experience i have ever had.
