The lights are on
Hyrule-heads unite! Green tights welcome. The Legend of Zelda is one of gaming's most famous franchises, and the power of the Triforce is collected here.
When I want to get my Zelda news as soon as it appears I usually visit a Zelda Fan site. Some of them are awful, and rarely update, some of them are great and update daily with either news or fan art, projects, and game guides, and some of them, although a great news source, have obnoxious or unprofessional editors.
I was wondering, if you visit fan sites, which ones do you prefer and why?
Signatures are dumb.
In the late 90s I used to visit a really neat site( at least I remember it being cool) called the Odyssey of Hyrule. I recently looked it up and it's no longer around. Other than this group, I don't frequent any fan sites.
I use Zelda Informer and Zelda Universe. They're both pretty up to date and they have a lot of cool extras that are pretty fun.
I've used both of those. Zeldainformer is more up to date but I absolutely can't stand a couple of the editors.
I believe that Zeldadungeon.net is pretty up to date, and has some interesting editorials. I also visit Zelda Universe, usually right after I visit dungeon.
Zeldadungeon.net is a really good site. I use it a lot for Zelda news and has very well written walkthroughs. I also agree they have interesting editorials. I've never tried out Zelda Universe so I'll have to check that out myself.
I love Zelda Dungeon. I used to frequent Zeldapedia.wikia.com, but this one admin was just such a jerk, always picking fights with me. They don't really stay terribly up to date on news anyway, but their information is always good. They have very nicely organized archives of enemies, characters, locations, games, items, etc. plus some neat poll and other social pages.
I'm actually starting a fansite with some friends of mine. Only it's a Nintendo fansite with link's to subsites for each first party franchise. It's not quite ready yet, but I'll be sure to post on the forum when it is.
Here's one I like: Zelda Dungeon. Except they sort of have dropped the ball. They have a lot of free time (seeing as no Zelda game is about to come out) but they don't have walkthroughs for every game and they don't have video walkthroughs for every game. Zeldapedia is go to for just plain info.
Yeah Zelda Dungeon is pretty... what's a word for not up-to-date? But anyway, I agree with Musicalham, Zeldapedia wins on info but I can't stand the admins, who are most just so flippin condescending. Zelda Dungeon is great for editorials and articles written by fans and such, plus they have a really cool giveaway on the forum every month. Also Axle the Beast is there, so that's awesome. Plus their forum has a section dedicated to games of Mafia, which is pretty full of win.
