Just wondering what your favorite game is and why?
So far mine is number 4 because everything was the best : the visuals, the combat, the cutscenes and the best ending so far.
It was just a saving grace game more then anything else. You come off of MGS2 which was not fan favorite (great game, but Raiden hurt it) and you come out with MGS3, it just worked.
Graphics: Some of the best of its era
Controls: Wonky at times with Snake Eater, but with the 3D camera in Subsistence it was solid. Also the shooting was as good as ever.
Voice Acting: Top Notch for the most part, but as always some over-acting ensued mostly on the part of the Cobra Unit's voices.
Story: Incredible. You learned a lot about Big Boss's character and why he feels the way he does. Also in general it had some great moments and action sequences.
Reply Value: High
I loved MGS4 because it had a very good replay value. It had me replaying it for unlocking those special emblems like the Big Boss emblem, in which I had to pass the game with no continue screens, no recovery items used, no kills, no alert modes, in under 5 hours. Also, the Metal Gear Online part of it kept me playing it for months, which ultimately lead into my personal favorite of the series.
A tie between MGS and MGS4. MGS was where it all started. The genre defining game. The story, the characters, the snarky humor, the 4th wall jokes, the music, etc. MGS4 makes it because it finally wraps up all the questions you have and gives you a new take on why everything happened.
If you bred HK-47, Shale, Chai Ka and Wrex, the gaming world would explode from sheer badassery.
MGS for me. MGS3 came closer than I ever expected any of them to come to its greatness, but it still had a couple rough parts.
I found mgs4's new mechanics to be needing some polish, also missed allot of the game mechanics that were dropped from previous entries [Pain reactions, interrogation]. The BB corp also left allot to be desired, the cobras weren't connected to the story either but atleast they weren't so uncomfortably overdramatic. The ending brought it together for me though [Snake ocelot fight].
It's like asking me to pick my favorite child, I can't do it (on account of not having any)! All I can say is, I played MGS2, 3 and 4 all on launch day and had an epic experience with all of them.

To be honest (Raiden aside) MGS2
Metal gear solid 3 snake eater! For sure I loved that one a lot! Maybe because of the very high replay value!
MGS4 might be my favorite, but I love them all!
Metal Gear Solid 2 sons of the liberty , I love them all lol
mgs3 nuff said...
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, Why ? because it was the pure feeling of Metal Gear, the sneaking, exploring secret camos and weapons, the great graphics, the atmosphere of the jungle and the overmighty bosses you had to fight against, and of course, you're playing Naked Snake, you're seeing him on his first mission.
My favourite game is MGS3: Snake Eater. why ? because its the origin of the series, covered with epic cutscenes, nice graphics, cool NPCs and on the top ,the story of Naked Snake.
I havent played mgs2 yet , but i will when it comes out for the Hd collection. I have a feeling Mgs2 will be my favorite after I play it but for now its a tie between mgs3 and mgs1. I enjoyed mgs4 but for me it felt kind of short.
Snake Eater hands down. The atmoshpere was incredible, the story was great and it also had one of the most immpressive End Boss battles of any game I've played and that includes all games not just MG.
ALL YOUR LOOT ARE BELONG TO ME.
