GIO FragFest: Camaraderie through digital bloodshed
Hello hello. Obviously the Fragfest group has been very quiet lately, and the few events that are organized tend to leave PC gamers out in the cold. Team Fortress 2 would be a great choice for a game of a sort of PC fragfest, as servers can hold up to 32 persons, the class-based gameplay is as fun and as balanced as hell, and the game is free to download (along with the Steam platform, the only place you can download the game from). Another plus is that you won't feel left out if you don't have a mic, as real-time text-chat is available and often preferred to voice-chat. It's a fantastic party game.
Unfortunately, the only effective way we can organize this is by renting out a server. We did this before with the 360 Battlefield 3 (much obliged, Warbuff) so perhaps we can work something out with Team Fortress 2?
I don't plan on organizing this fragfest by myself. This was an idea thrown out by a self-acknowledged procrastinator.
I thank ya, I thank ya.
They have actually done TF2 last year... there's already a Steam group through which we coordinated everything, though it's not been active in the past few months:
I'd say lets go for it... I think they had their own server, forget exactly, though.
I'd be up for it
Aye, I joined in the late Winter, so I was unaware.
You don't have to rent a server. You could just get someone to host a dedicated server for everyone to play on. I'm pretty sure I still have a server set up for TF2 that just needs to be put up but the fragfest would have to be on the weekend for me to host.
