  • My friends,

I was wondering if any of you are planning on picking up Bioshock infinite, and what your expectations of it are. I have played BioShock and thoroughly enjoyed it, but do not know much about Infinite. Tell me why you're picking it up SHG!

  • Day one! I absolutely loved Bioshock, and everything I've seen from Infinite looks amazing. I'm fully expecting this game to blow me away.

  • I'm getting right when it comes out. I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time. I'm a huge fan of the series and lore of BioShock. The first BioShock is one of my favorite games of this generation. I think Infinite looks outstanding, I haven't seen any of the demos though, I'm dodging those suckers but from the trailers, the interviews, and everything that I've read I'm more than convinced that it has the potential of being my favorite game this year.

  • That sounds awesome! I've only played the first BioShock, but I've played it about 10 times, and I absolutely loved it. Possibly the most innovative shooter I've ever seen.

It's encouraging to hear such high enthusiasm, I haven't really been reading up on it, but from what you guys have said I'm very excited.

I know it's not in rapture obviously, but do you guys know if it's related to the first game in any way, or is it completely separate?

  • Its not related to the first 2 games, they aren't even in the same universe. Its called 'BioShock' because 1) They have the license to name it that and 2) It shares the same ideas of philosophy and because of two concept ideas of BioShock being the fantastical setting and the use of a large number of tools and abilities in creative manners to survive.

Its kind of the same concept on why they named BioShock. They took some ideas from System Shock like learning about the place you are in and discovering more about it as you explore, and Bio was from biographically enhancing your body to become stronger (plasmids). That being said the company likes to tie in their games together with certain elements. That's why their titles are so similar.

Anyway, the games are not related and Infinite is not a spin off or a reboot or anything to BioShock 1 and 2. It's its own game.

  • @J Warrior: That sounds really exciting, I really look forward to playing it. It looks beautiful too from just the little bit I've seen. Sadly I'm low on cash, so I won't be able to get it for awhile, but let me know what you think after you've finished it!
