  • Hello all, I don't know if you guys remember me, but I'm Mintie, and I'm back. I used to be a lot more active on here several months ago, but had to take a break for several different reasons.

Anyhow, it's good to be back, and I look forward to jumping back into the forums! I still consider SHG the best forum on the internet, and I look forward to more glorious adventures here. :)

    Sincerely,

    That guy

  • Sammy, welcome back! It's good to hear from ya again, hope all is going well at your end.

  • Doomo arigatoo my good sir! It's good to be back, and things are definitely going well for me, I've really gotten into Dark Souls, so I am greatly enjoying that gem of a game. :)

What's the latest in the SHG?

I'm also curious of people's opinions on Downpour, I still haven't played it yet.

  • Man, I started up Dark Souls not too long ago as well and I really like the challenge it has to offer. The talk around here is mainly Resident Evil 6 right now since that just launched. About Downpour, I haven't played it myself so I can't speak for myself there, but Wes Carroll wrote a review for it when it came out, I can't really remember what he said about it though, I think he gave it an 8/10, he'll have to tell you about it himself.

Wes' thing. We should find Wes, he went missing too.

    Was Wes a he?

    lol Adym, is that you?

Disregard that. Everything is in order...

  • Same here, although it takes some getting used to. Hell, I didn't even know how to use magic in my first profile... (>_<)

Ah, Resident Evil 6 looks exciting, and I was encouraged by Tim's review, I'm short on cash though, so I won't be playing it till maybe after Christmas.

Yeah, I haven't heard from Wes in a long time, he (I think he's a he) and badgerbil and I were working on that Silent Hill project, but then I stopped hearing from him. I think Badgerbil is still in contact with him though.

  • Hi, Sam! Good to have you back.

I've heard of Dark Souls, and its challenge level. Is it too hard, or unfair sometimes? 'Cause if not, I'm always up for another good RPG. :D

@RE6: I've seen the ads (and a positive review on YouTube), and I think the game looks better than RE5, so I definitely want it. I don't think I'll buy the game right off the bat, because Capcom might release a "gold edition" like they did with 5.

@Downpour: I still haven't gotten it yet. It was available at our local game/video store, but sold out! D: Wikipedia says the game has the weakest (or least balanced) critical reception of any SH game yet, with an aggregate score of 66%. But I'm still interested in the game, it sounds like it has some stuff that I like.

Have you guys seen the trailer for Silent Hill Revelation 3D yet? Speaking of which, why doesn't that movie have its own thread?

  • Hi Sam ( again ) I already hijacked J's comment and said hi there yesterday. In any case welcome home.

You don't need magic in Dark Souls. Magic is for the weak. And Badger it really easy once you get the hang of it. Just takes a little time.

I was looking at Downpour today. Still not worth £40 in my mind. A good borrow though.

Badger you'll want to be careful mentioning Silent Hill Revelation 3D, people round these parts don't like that kind of talk. I think it looks great though.

  • Welcome back good sir!

  • And yes.. I am indeed a "he."

  • @Adam, thanks for the welcome man! :D Haha, for the weak you say? I just call it well-rounded. ;)

I'm curious though, what build does your character have? My first profile was all strength, so I was always smacking fools with claymore-type weapons, but I also had no range. This time I'm favoring the uchigatana and spells, mainly heal and soul arrows so far. (I'm only level 40) Btw, how do you find green titanite shards... I'm really up for some weapon ascension about now... :/

@Badgerbil, yep, you would love Dark Souls, It's probably my favorite RPG, I like it even more than Fallout (and that's saying a lot).

@Wes, glad to see you again man! Ah, good to know your gender, I suspected you were a guy, but man those internets, fool me every time! :D

I shall read your downpour review. :)

So what is everyone's thoughts on SH: REV3D? I actually liked the first movie regardless of the blatant misrepresentation of some of my FAVORITE parts of the game.  I'm excited about Carrie-Ann Moss being Claudia though.

  • @adym-it looks like it has potential....

I played a thief. So I think I was all dexterity. I used a crossbow for most of the game. After I finished it and started new game + I turned my character into a STR / DEX hybrid. No health boosts though. Health is also for the weak.

You can find green titanite shards in the Depths near Blightown. This video helped me way back when.

It won't let me time link it. The good stuff starts at 40 seconds in.

  • Ah, thanks man! I'm also a thief, and focusing on dex/intelligence.

I enjoy having a couple soul spears when I'm in a pinch, but I mostly use my uchigatana.

I appreciate the vid, I was having trouble finding the green titanite shards, so this helped me out quite a bit.

I'm level 66 in Anor Londo, but I'm having troubles with the archers by that stairway past all the harpies. Any suggestions? I'd also like to get a better bow, what one would you recommend?

  • Charge them. If it's the one on the balcony corner he should pull out his sword if you get close enough. This makes him back step and fall off the ledge.

I don't know too much about bows. A regular crossbow upgraded max did me for most of the game. I never really switched it out.
