The lights are on
Here to help new members of the GameInformer Online Community fit in and become active.
Hey guys. So I was thinking of ways to get the group more active and involved and such, and this came up, so I'd thought I'd give it a try. If it fails, it was someone elses idea.
So, every Monday I will pose a question to the group. By answering, hopefully we, as a group, can find common interests and become friends and make the community stronger. Think it can't happen? Hannibal and I text each other nearly every day away from GIO. Its completely possible, but unfortunately some effort is required.
You guys can answer the question in the thread it is posted in, or even turn it into a blog if you are so inclined. Remember, the more you elaborate on your response, the more you let us know about yourself.
You say you have a question you'd like to ask the group? Head to the Suggestion Box. Its linked to my phone, so whenever anyone posts there, I'll see it.
For the initial trial run of this idea, I thought I'd stepa away from the world of video games. Everyone listens to music, so the question(s) is...
What is your favorite genre of music? What is your band/singer/rapper/group of choice? What's your favorite album/record?
"I'm a dude, playin' a dude, disguised as anotha dude! You a dude that don't know what dude he is!" -Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder
Good idea Jolt!
Let's see, my preferred genre of music is classic rock. I used to really love all music, especially classic rock. Strangely, when I quit drinking and doing drugs more than 7 years ago, I lost interest in most music, it wasn't until the past year and a half that my tastes returned. I still like all the same crazy 60's and 70's songs though!
Favorite band is The Beatles, have always loved them and of course have many close second favorites. Hell, my spawn is named after Bob Dylan. My favorite Beatles Album, though cliche, is definitely Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. I can listen to that non stop several times through and not get tired of it, though not necessarily the album that has all my favorite Beatles Songs. SPLHCB is the rare album that has absolutely no songs I skip.
"You know nothing Jon Snow"
This is actually a pretty good idea. I don't know if it will catch on though, but I like it. (You and Hannibal actually TXT each other!? wow. I don't even do that with my friends I've met in real life) Anyway...
Genre-Country. I was born a farmer and it's stuck with me. Band-Little Big Town. They are the best group out there, and they cover non-country songs. Their version of Moves Like Jagger is way better than Maroon 5's. I have no favorite record. I like them all. But if I had to it would be one of LBT's album.
Thanks guys. And yes, I can now insult him twice as much in half the time. Its glorious!
I guess I should give this a go, eh?
I literally can listen to anything. If I had to pick, it would be rock. Although, I am a huge Prince fan, and I love the old motown records. But I listen to rock music when I am gaming. Metallica, Godsmack, Slipknot... all are good times. I can go to 50 Cent and Ludacris if I go on a shooting spree in GTA or something though.
As for record, it has to be The Black Album by Metallica. Every song on it is splendid. Its good for rocking out or chilling.
Mojo, you have the same favorite album as my father. That's creepy. And my daughter is named after my wifes favorite singer, Jewel.
For me, it's definitely classic rock. The Eagles are my favorite band (by a lot). Don Henley is my favorite singer, and The End of the Innocence is my favorite album, and song.
Ha! I stole my dads Eagles Greatest Hits CD before I moved out. Good stuff is on that... matter of fact, its in the cd player of my van.
Well, I guess I should answer this. I'm a big Disney fan, so all the Disney music from the movies are stuff I listen to. I guess I've started to become a hipster, cause I don't like today's music. If I do listen to the music, it's from Youtubers who do covers and/or parodies on it. I also listen to a some Christian music too. I guess my favorite album is Change of Scenery by Guest. It's a little bit rock, but still cool. You guys should check out ThePianoGuys and Lindsey Stirling (lindseystomp) on YouTube. Great musicians of great songs.
My favorite genres of music is rock. My favorite band is the Beatles, and my favorite album is Beatles: Greatest Hits Volume 1
My favorite genre of music is hardcore rock I guess.... though I listen to all types of music. My favorite bands are Enter Shikari, Bayside, and the Gorillaz (only one out of these 3 are actually hardcore but whatever). My favorite album (let's say from this decade) is probably The Walking Wounded by Bayside. Runners-Up: Common Dreads by Enter Shikari, Demon Days by Gorillaz, My Dark Beautiful Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West, and Dying is Your Latest Fashion by Escape the Fate.
I see people started putting guilty pleasures up to. Mine is definitely the song E.T. by Katy Perry. I don't know why but I can't get enough of that song. And since none of you know who I am in real life I won't be haunted by this confession... lol
Haha OAW, noone's safe on the internet. You hear about how Google's literally spying on everybody now?

On a happier note, I also enjoy Rock and Hip Hop, as well as Jazz. Outkast perhaps is one of my favorite Hip Hop groups, and Chuck Berry and B.B. King are my fav Rock artists.
Are you for reeeeeeeal (sorry for the corny Outkast joke). Chuck Berry and B.B. King are awesome but just out of curiosity, do you listen to Buddy Guy. He is one of favorite blues-rock musicians.
Yeah, I love Buddy Guy.
