  • The only shows that should be on TV are Friendship is Magic and The Real Housewives of Orange County.

  • I loved Hey Arnold!, Rugrats, Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents, a ton of those nick cartoons.  And Avatar: the Last Airbender.

As far as none-children's-tv cartoon shows go, Futurama and the Simpsons are hilarious.  If you haven't seen them, then I feel an extreme lack of magical friendship towards you, a cold cold emptiness devoid of meaning or pegasi.

Unfortunately, Hey Arnold! got cancelled before its time, and the rest went on for too long and just started to suck.  Except for Avatar, which ended perfectly, but now there's another series coming out, so we'll see...

On a slight tanget, since this isn't a cartoon, did anyone ever see that "Animorphs" tv show?  I thought those books were the best thing ever when I was 11, but I was ten years too late to meet anyone else who liked 'em!

I did watch the Animorphs TV series! Those were my favorite books next to Harry Potter when I was in 4th grade and those came out. I was slightly mad about the show though because of the amount of stuff they changed in making it. Of course, now I realize why and that stuff is changed all the time, but at the time it made me mad. The only saving grace was when I found out that the guy who played Jake went on to play Iceman in the first X-Men movie series.

  • I hate the animorphs books. In my opinion, if you are a 9 or 10 year old read them, but I personally hate them. This coming from a 12 year old who has the reading ability of a Junior (?) in College, so maybe I just went past that phase too fast.

Well yeah. When those were first published, that's how old I was, so they were fine. If I were to pick one up now... Well, I wouldn't. They aren't very well written. The animal facts are kinda cool, but if that's what I want, I'll pick up my biology and organic chemistry text books.

  • Exactly. Now I'd like to stop this before we go off on a tangent about reading.

  • Indiana Joel:

I'm with you there.  The writing was really bad, not as bad as Goosebumps (another book series that I have fond memories of but solely for nostalgic reasons), but still really bad.  Still, good memories, first book series I read where the main character dealt with manic depression from sending his best friend to his death.

Do live-action tv shows count here?  If so, you should all see Community and Parks and Rec.  Those shows are awesome.  Community has this habit of parodying a certain show or style in each episode, which is really interesting.  Parks and Rec started as a good Office clone, but since season 2, it's been really awesome.

  • personally, theres only 2 cartoons i would place above FiM in terms of overall quality and how much i enjoyed them. one would have to be Samurai Jack, if you havent seen it, its got an amazingly unique visual style and probably the best action of any western cartoon ever, intertwining with often deep themes and terrific storytelling. the other would be Invader Zim, probably the only cartoon i can think of with as large of a cult following as FiM. the visual style was completely unique and awesome, the plots spun out into some of the most random and epic ideas ever, but where it really shined was the characters. like FiM, each of the main characters had incredibly well defined personalities, but invader Zim took it even further than FiM, and made the characters so overwhelmingly larger-than-life that half of the shows hilarity simply came from having so many simply-yet-ingeniously-designed characters in a single episode.

  • ^ im of course only talking about "childrens" cartoons up here, my favorite animated shows all-time are south park and futurama

  • Oh, man, invader zim.  That show was amazing.  I can't believe they got away with airing the "Dark Harvest" episode (the one that's all about Zim stealing the organs of little children to make himself seem more human).

  • I'm gonna say I really like Phineas and Ferb. It's from guys who worked on good era Spongebob, Rocco's Modern Life and Family Guy. Besides MLP, it's probably my favorite kid's cartoon currently airing new episodes. Other than that, I'm gonna say, and date myself, Ren and Stimpy will always have a special place in my twisted, cartoony heart for greatly shaping my humor in first run when it was on.
