Cry man tears.  Seriously though I loved that fic, but it had me depressed for about a week after I read it.  So I know where you are coming from.  My only advice is time heals all wounds.  Oh and watch this over and over

If you don't smile after hearing that song you may be beyond help.  No joke this song actually makes me feel better.

  • First of all, I cried manymanymany man tears while reading that, and even after that for some time. Same thing with the second time I read it. Second, that song is amazing and always makes me smile, so it is awesome. I listen to it on my iPod all the time. (Also the rock cover by onetrickpony on youtube is really good)

Yeah I cried man tears too and then I did something stupid.... I told my friend at work about it who was not a brony at the time(he is now XD) and me being 6'5" 230 lbs.  I get funny looks when people find out I cried about a story involving pastel ponies.  So I told the guy I would cover his job for the next hour for him to go to my computer and read it.  Needless to say when he finished he was really quiet his eyes were red and watering.  The next week he asked if on lunch break could he use my computer and desk to watch the show.  :)

This thread gets used like the music thread people post stories but not much discussion.  Let's change that.

@ IDR so what did you think about that cheerilee fic?

It was well written and rather interesting. To be honest, I think the author is dramatizing the situation a bit too much, but other than that it's coming together rather well.

I agree it is dramatized a little much, but not enough to put me off.  Also the story about her cutie mark is so believable it's now a part of my head cannon.  The author seems to have in character too, but I'm no cheerilee expert I defer that to you.

Well it certainly not unbelievable, but it's not enough for me to change my head-canon.

I don't think Cheerilee is somepony who'd cry a lot or cower in fear over her boss. Given her kind, cheery, and occasionally strict nature, I figured she'd be downplaying worries to Twilight (if not to herself also) and would at least defend herself better against her boss's demands. The story seems to be wrapping itself back to that point though, so I won't judge it harshly.

  • I gotta ask what is your head cannon for her cutie mark?

  • The same as the show's. XD

  • thanks for the advice :P

  • Hey Jack if you're out there and have not read this story go read it now.  It's the best Octavia story I have ever read.

    Octavia Takes The Bus

Her car's a mess, and so is her life. What better way to start making sense of the cruel world than to take the city bus? Octavia is in for a bumpy ride as she journals her observations and feelings about using the Equestrian Transit System. What will she discover? Only one way to find out!

  • Im reading that right now and its really good! I think they just finished it recently but Im not done with it.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet but it updated and is complete tonight.

Truth or myth? Ancient lost civilization or just an old pony's tale?

No pony has ever seen one, and most haven't even heard of them. But Lyra knows that these wonderful creatures are more than just old legends, and she's going to find out... and possibly drive her roommate insane in the process.

This is a really great story.  As of right now 3080 likes 61 dislikes.  It's worth your time.

  • This is a great story about Luna's hoof servant and his first day on the job (as well as Luna's)

It's been a thousand years. Princess Luna is returned, and the castle staff must scramble to see that she has servants to attend to her needs, and just as importantly, that they look the part. Of course, it turns out that it's rather difficult to find competent servants on such short notice. A hooffull of servants are chosen based on their appearance and duties, and are assigned to serve the Moon Goddess as personal retainers until more suitable replacements can be found. When coloring, Cutie Mark, and chance coincide, one of the castle's junior stewards is thrust into a role any loyal servant ought to jump at: Lunar Hoofservant. Unfortunately for Nightlight, Princess Luna is far more demanding than her older sister, and being her servant means contending with an unforgiving goddess who demands nothing short of perfection. Furthermore, somepony must be responsible for the inevitable failure. The duty of "Royal Hoofservant" just might be synonymous with "Royal Scapegoat."
Saddled with responsibility far beyond his post and expected to fail, Nightlight has no choice but to quit his post or to become the servant that Luna needs. This is the story of a pony's development from colt to stallion, and from servant to leader.
Thanks much to DirePony for the editing and story direction he's graciously provided me.
Rated 'Teen' for alcohol use, mild innuendo/sexual references, and pony-swears.
Not based on the (excellent) sci-fi novel of the same name by Robert Heinlein.

  • This is something I'm working on right now. It's been out for a week, and I've received no feedback. I'd appreciate an opinion. I'm trying to update it a chapter a week, maybe sooner if I can manage it. There's nothing mature in the story just yet. It's an adventure fiction, grim aspects come later. The description is in the link which I'll add to each week to prevent unneeded foreshadowing.

I'd ask that you please give it a chance.
