  • Even though this group is pretty much dead, this still doesn't change the fact that I originally intended to revive the group when I became a moderator.  And darn it, I'm gonna try to do that at least once every year!  In all seriousness, though, I know that part of building the Christian Group will involve building a dedicated group of Christians who know each other and forming a community from that.  So, to follow that, here's the Prayer Request Thread.

Just as in any other Christian group like a youth group or Sunday School class, this thread is for prayer requests.  Here, we can share personal struggles and ask for prayers in what will hopefully be a growing community.  This is one of those threads that will, with participation from the members, never die out like the rest of the graveyard that is our Forums section.  I hope that with this thread, people will be encouraged and comforted in knowing that others are praying for them.  This could be the basis for a growing community of Christians on GIO.

Note: you don't have to give any specific personal details if you're not comfortable enough to.  Something as small as "Hey, I'm [insert username here].  Please pray for me." is just fine.  Give details only if you want to.

1 Peter 3:15 (NASB): "But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence."

  • I'm TDL, and I'd like prayers for me to act more godly around other people.

  • @TheDarkestLink

    Duly noted.  Thanks for replying.

1 Peter 3:15 (NASB): "But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence."

  • I've got one, too.  I'm in my senior year of high school, and the amount of work that I have to contend with small compared to the work that I did last year.  Yet, for some reason, I've gotten into the habit of procrastinating and compromising on my work to do other things.  These are things that I've never really done in high school before.  At our high school, we call it "Senioritis", a disease that, if untreated, causes seniors to fail.  My case isn't that severe, but I simply can't afford to do this.  Please pray that I can get my act together and do the work necessary to get me out of high school with the highest GPA possible.

    Thanks.

  • Hello, I'm Ash! I've been dealing with anxiety and stress lately and my therapist thinks I need meds for it since multiple times a week a wake up in  a panic attack. I go to the doctors tomorrow and am hoping that they will be able to get me the meds I need soon.  It's just really getting to me, I feel so terrible during the panic attacks.

  • @nightcrawlerash13

That's awful, Ash.  I'll definitely pray for you.

  • I've suffered with anxiety and panic attacks my entire life. Panic attacks are very terrifying experiences during which you have little control over your body/mind, for those of you who have never had one. Having anxiety or being really nervous do not compare to the feeling of a panic attack, nervousness is natural in most cases, but panic attacks are not. I will definitely be praying for you Ash, and remember that God is in control of every situation.  Ask Him to carry your burdens and more importantly, have faith and trust that He will take care of your problems.

Here are a few verses to read when you are feeling anxious, I really like Philippians 4:6-7

See?  This is precisely what I was going for.  Now you two have a common ground (panic attacks, oddly enough) from which you can support each other in your struggles.  I've never had a panic attack myself, but I have friends who have.  I don't know the first thing about what they're like.  If anxiety, which I've experienced pretty badly at times, is anything to go off of, then I couldn't imagine how one would feel.  But this is encouraging!  Because now you two can help each other.

  • Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it. My doctor was able to get me meds to take when I need them. he told me to take one last night so I knew how it affected me and... it made me super tired :P So I'm going to have to half the dose if I take it during the day. But the good thing is, I woke up this morning feeling great!

  • I've been dealing with simular issues as Ash.  Depression, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, and bouts of suicidal thoughts and urges.  Lost my job on my birthday, haven't spoken to the girl I'm crazy for in about a month, and doubting I have any meaning in my existance.  The church I go to has lost a lost of its luster.  I used to help the youth, but because I smoke, I'm not welcome to help.  Tried helping with the sound system for the praise and worship but was told I didn't have an ear for it, before even trying out for it.

Missing a lot of people who used to be a daily part of my life the past two years.  Finding out a dear friend wasn't what they said, was only the icing on the cake.  For over a year I thought them like a brother, only to learn they were actualy a female, lesbian, and they hated men.  As a guy, it hurt knowing the person I thought so high of was secretly laughing at me all that time the things I said.  I'd like to believe prayer would help, but I'm not so sure it would.  I don't even go to church that often.  Lost a lot of faith in others, a lot in the church, and even some in God and his love.

  • CRR, let me pray for you right now.

Heavenly Father, I pray that you would help my brother right now as he struggles to find his place in life, in a community, and in ministry. I pray that you would reveal the depths of your love for him, and remind that you are always with him, and there for him.

God, please give him wisdom and guidance as he seeks a place to serve you. Show him where in his church he could serve, or Father if it comes to it show him another church or ministry where he can participate. Reveal opportunities of service to him so he can go serve you as you have commanded us to.

God I pray that you would help him find a good community of brothers and sisters that can facilitate growth in his relationship with you, and provide fellowship to him.

And most of all I pray that you would remind him of all the amazing things you have done in his life oh Generous Lord. Remind him that you left he's an to become a man and die an unjust death in order to pay the price of his sins. That because if your great love he can have a relationship with you for eternity.

Holy Spirit, I pray that you would show him areas of sin in his life, and give him the strength to resist those temptations, and remind him that his sins cannot disqualify him from living a life in service if you, thanks to the death of Jesus on the Cross.

Holy wonderful God, you are more awesome than any of us deserve. Thank you for the ability for this community to meet, however infrequently, across all distances and times. You are so good to us. To you be the glory honor and praise. Amen

  • Just to interrupt this, SoG, this was a great idea.
