  • This week's question is a personal one.  It also serves as a personal challenge to all of you.

Do you search for the truth, or do you just listen to whatever your pastor says and take that in?

My answer:  This is the issue at the core of what I plan to teach as an evangelist.  I believe that today's churches are widely corrupted by popular culture and false teachings.  People take in these heresies as if they're truth and don't study for themselves.  The core of my research and study is a search for the truth.

1 Peter 3:15 (NASB): "But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence."

  • Now, I search for the truth more often then I have in the past, although it's sometimes hard to find when you have everybody shouting what they think may be the truth at you. I feel, though, I've been looking to outside sources and ignoring the Bible a bit. It can be easy to just listen to what someone says, nod your head, and say to yourself, "Ya that sounds good." without looking into it. It can even be a bit harder reading the Bible thanks to lies disguised as truths of what people say about the Bible to be true. Thanks for bringing this up though, as if we don't search for the truth, we can't grow as God would want us to, and that's a worthy goal, the search for truth.

  • For these pass few years my family and I have been searching the word ourselves. At first, we would go to church, listen to what the preacher said and took it as truth. After tapping into God for wisdom and searching the Bible, we found that the church we went to was corrupt. Since then, we have studied the Bible as a family. I do believe there are good churches out there. Servant of God is right though, because of false doctrine being put out there, it's hard to trust if you're getting the truth.

  • I search for the truth.

  • I listen to my Pastor as he usually says the truth. When that's not enough I seek it out for myself.

  • I search for truth always because I never know if someone tells the truth or not
