This Forum from this day forward is decreed to be dedicated to the George R.R. Martin fantasy novel A Clash of Kings: Book 2 of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

The following is ripped off from Wikipedia

A Clash of Kings is the second novel in A Song of Ice and Fire, an epic fantasy series by American author George R. R. Martin expected to consist of seven volumes. It was first published on 16 November 1998 in the United Kingdom, although the first United States edition did not follow until March 1999. Like its predecessor, A Game of Thrones, it won the Locus Award (in 1999) for Best Novel and was nominated for the Nebula Award (also in 1999) for best novel. In May 2005 Meisha Merlin released a limited edition of the novel, fully illustrated by John Howe.

The novel has been adapted for television by HBO as the second season of the TV series Game of Thrones.

A Clash of Kings is also the name of the first expansion to the Game of Thrones board game.

Alright people, let's get this discussion started on A Clash of Kings: Book 2 of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

    "You know nothing Jon Snow"

  • I just finished A Clash of Kings about 2 days ago (and I'm already on on like page 300 of A Storm of Swords) and I just want to say that I liked the second book a bit more than I did the first, but I didn't appreciate most of the plot twists, considering I watched the HBO show before I started either book.

  • The only plot twist I had a problem with was Renly's death. They built him up to be a strong contender and he is... abruptly killed by Stannis' shadow. While the whole Shadow assassin thing is cool I think GRRM could have delivered it better

  • Yeah I see what you mean. The third book is better so far,I;m already like half done with it. There wasn't a huge plot twist in this one like Eddard's death in AGoT.

  • The only thing that bothered me was Theon's betrayal. We barely get to know the guy and then he just straight up betrays the Starks. A bit more build up would have been nice, like him advising Robb or something solidifying their friendsip. It would have made the twist much better

  • I think they do a much better job of that in the show. In the book it feels really tacked on. I don't really care too much for the Theon arc.
