The lights are on
Needing to brainstorm about the next big breakthru for video games as we know it? Well come on in and chill with like minds in The I.G.D.Group!
I personally really want to program RPG's and maybe some FPS's, but everyone has their preferences. What type of games do you want to design/program?
This battle......will be EPIC!
I'm still thinking about the game design possibilities. I have a caffeine-inspired idea to create a "Pokemon" style game, seeing that DS is infatuated by memorizing the ridiculous names and moves of fictional beasts. The other interest I have is in teaching Chinese language in an interactive, engaging manner ... but that's an unrealistic proposition, seeing that I'm not a native Mandarin speaker and I'm not functionally literate in Mandarin either.
i would like to design pretty much anything but i really like action adventure third person stuff
I am a 3D artist so I want to be involved in FPS or RPG games. These types of games show off environments and really count on a look to create the mood. I don't know any programmers so right now I am just trying to latch on to a Mod team or somethin.
Check out my game environment website! Made some pretty stuff for games!
ditto i dont know anyone who is or would even like to program
I want to design all kinds of games. Really, I want to design something different and unique more than any one type of game. since I kind of need to start small I decided to start making some design documents about smaller games. right now I have ideas for a different kind of chess game and a kind of unique, more casual football game.
I've got a couple game ideas that I have done some design documents for but I am very nervous to tell anyone about them. lol I don't want people stealing my ideas. I am going to keep them with me until I wiggle my way into a larger company and then maybe get some support for them.
RPG's and FPS games are my Favorite so i want to create them.
haha yeah, same here. That's why I only vaguely described those two smaller games. Those are ones I'd be willing to work with a small amateur team on, because that would help me get a job. too bad there aren't any actual programmers in here.
So what social networking sites do you think games programmers frequent?
It would be nice to have game programmers participating here. But I guess they might be perturbed by coming to a site like this and reading an unfavorable view of their work. It's just their job, sure, but it seems to take creativity & planning to get the job done.
oh, i have no idea. i suppose they are on the same ones anyone else is, but good luck finding them. I'm sure they do keep up on what game informer is saying, but I'm not so sure any of them besides the most amateur or amateurs would participate in a forum.
I typed up an entire 4 page treatment for a Ghost Hunters game, that would be ultra realistic and extremely atmospheric. I think that's about the best way I can describe the games I plan on making. Atmospheric.
A man chooses, a slave obeys...
i hope that not based off of the TV show, Ghost Hunters. If it is, well, still good for you, I just don't like those guys.
atmospheric is cool though.
It is, but I can guarantee that the world I've mapped out (And copyrighted, no less!) would be a great time. Regardless of your feeling towards them, I can tell you for sure that you'd enjoy it!
That and a crime/mystery game set in the 30's with a group of orphaned children and their leader are my two big ideas, that I've drawn up quite a bit of concept art for, and even animated some stuff. Outside of a few details though, I'm keeping these guys close to the chest :)
that's pretty cool. got some concept art and animations. unfortunately, I have no skill when it comes to those things, which can really help selling an idea such as a video game.
