The lights are on
Please bear with us as we have launched in beta so you may notice a bug or two. The best thing you can do is let us know right here in the Site Feedback Forum. Have a question or comment regarding the new site? This is your place.
Ok, so I was on some site today that uses lithium forums. They are so much better, GI needs to use that again. This isn't a thread about missing the old GI days or anything, I just think that forum layout is so much better than this. Use it GI!
If only they would. It was just easier to use and read.
Everything about it is better. I don't understand the switch.
It was easier to navigate forums, easier to read posts and reply/quote them, easier to post images and videos...I don't see how they think that the engine they're using now is convenient. Maybe the beta changes will be made to make the site easier to use, but still, Lithium was just a more user-friendly interface.
Ha. That song is exactly what I thought of when I saw the name!

CaNdLE + LiiGHT = OWNAGE
Yeah they used vbulletin, I wouldn't be surpised if GI uses vBulletin just diffrently customized.
Who uses vbulletin? The old GI? Because it was definitely lithium.
Yep, the new forums are a definite downgrade tech wise to the old site.
Let me tell you about this amazing place called the Site Feedback group. It's a group where you can *gasp* leave feedback about the site. And in this group there is a thread called the Suggestion Box. It's a marvelous place where users like you and me can throw out ideas for the code monkeys in charge to consider.
Whether your idea is applied or ignored, at least you're voice will have been heard by the people that need to hear them, whereas aimlessly shouting in the dark over here in Off Topic will likely not be heard. Just a thought.
Honestly people, let's keep site feedback related stuff where it belongs ok?
DBull, it would be one thing if our complaints were something new and nothing had been said about the complaints to us. But when we have had editors and other people for GI telling us about how they're going to improve this, or are going to change that and the only change we've seen is a *** light switch, you start to feel like they don't give a ***.
I'm just tired of having smoke blown up my ass about what they're going to do. Talk is cheap.
Yeah I don't think any of the GI people care either. Ever since Paul and Billy left the old GI things went downhill. The only one of them that ever posted was Joe, and he's nowhere to be seen now. I know they have jobs to do and stuff, but with all the talk about being so much more involved with the new site you would expect them to actually do it. All they've done is add a new frontpage for stories that are on neogaf or kotaku an hour earlier and downgrade the forums. What a wonderful upgrade.
I certainly can't blame you for feeling that way Demon. Heck I'm still a little annoyed that when the new site, especially the forums, were being created, no one came to us, the very community of GI whom they were aiming to please, and asked us "hey, take a look at this and tell us what you think."
It also doesn't help that it seemed like new site was rushed out the door to make the site relaunch coincide with the new magazine format, based on how a number of key forum features were missing for a few days, weeks, and even months in some cases (remember back when we couldn't even jump to another page of forum threads?) Yeah, we were certainly dealt a bad hand and things probably should have been handled differently, but right now all we can do is make the most of what we've got.
And again, I would like to reiterate that if you (or anyone else) wants to leave feedback about the site (complaint, idea, kudos, or otherwise) that it should be put in it's proper place (i.e. the site feedback group). We have a place for threads like this, let's keep it where it belongs, cuz as far as I'm concerned this is as bad as putting a gaming topic in the off topic board.
Do you not read the site feedback? There are tons of posts but there is hardly ever a response. It's pretty much useless trying, because nobody from GI gives a ***.
