    Eddie Dean:

I'm actually on quite a bit more than just when there's business to be done. Although it is true that, when I'm on, there is always business to be done  ; )

As far as our abilities go, we do have the vast majority of them. There's still no indication of when a thread is locked or moved; I let Nick know about that a while ago, along with my suggestions on new mods again.

Things around here right now are so very much better than they were during the first month after the re-launch. I know things aren't where a lot of people want them to be, but during that first month I was literally locking or joining 25-30 threads every single day.

First, thanks to you and the other mods for all your hard work.  We'd be a lot worse off without you guys.  As to the locked threads issue, that is one we are working on actively right now and we will have that in what is planned to come out in January.

My pleasure. I figured the lock/move notification was one of the things being worked on. It's very cool that so much attention is being paid to feedback.

  • Glad to see that the GI people actually notice things need to be done.

  • Thanks for clearing that stuff up, Eddie (I so just want to call you Chf). I suppose the new site just has very little indication of these kinds of things. It's a bit hard to see how often mods are online unless you can see them post. And near impossible to tell if a thread is locked until I put together a long reply that the site won't let me post.

  • Dear God, I wish Nub would post here more. Yeah, the mods haven't really been on much, so we are indeed in need of more. But I'm probably one of the few people who is totally with the whole "requirements for thread starting" thing. As long as the requirement is not too harsh, they will get the hang of making the right threads and using a search button by about the time they reach that requirement (hopefully).

I'd say more, but it's already on the suggestion box (I think)

  • Actually, that's sounds better than my "Recycle Bin" forum idea, it'll be nice to see something of a required tutorial or requirements for thread starting instead of trashing and locking their threads.

Also, I'd like to thank you for replying to my post, Sean. I'm glad that Staffs and mods here take in consideration on what should be fixed from the users.

I can't wait and see some of the color schemes and themes you guys will come up with in future iterations for the GI website.

  • I'd also like to add that, maybe, in the user profiles somewhere, I'd like to organize the "Activity" Section. It'll look a lot cleaner to me if we had a sub-division of "Your Posts" and "Your Topics" So the users can keep track on their topics and posts a bit more instead of cluttering it together. I'd also suggest for the Automated Mailing system to be at least weekly or bi-daily, and within one email so I won't have too much clutter in my email account and I can still keep up on my favorite topics, guilds, and blogs.

Again, I thank all the Mods and Staff for taking in consideration from the users themselves.

You're welcome. And you can call me Chf if you like. Everyone on Live does  : )

  • I agree with most of the suggestions in this thread. Especially what Chf said that there needs to be an indication that a thread is locked. I'm sure once we get that put into the forums that alone will cut down on the multiple threads. If a newcomer sees four "omg this game rules" threads with a locked symbol next to it then surely they will realize that those types of threads are frowned upon here.

I also think alot of the members from the old forum have been doing more lurking than posting. I know I certainly have these past few weeks. So I wouldn't worry about the Mods not being here enough, they're probably just doing more watching.

Also remember at the bottom of the old forums there was a box that showed everyone that was online? It would be really nice to have that here. I know it's not the most important thing to worry about, but it's just nice to see who is online. Plus I'm really curious to see how many members online we are averaging everyday.

  • Snake most of the mods didn't do anything on the old site either. There were only like 5 or 6 that did anything. There is even less now.

  • I have to admit, I'm very shocked by how little we've seen of Nub since the relaunch.  He used to be around all the time.  Heck, lately I haven't seen Pat around anywhere either, and the only time we see Angelgamer is when she updates the What If game and Add Your Own Caption contest threads.  Chf, I hate to say it but you're the only one we see around here anymore.

I admit it. I'm almost never on the site anymore. It's a combination of things, none of which are fair excuses:

    - I own a house now. That comes with its own set of responsibilities that a leasee would normally not have to worry about. I've been painting the house on and off for three months and still haven't finished yet.

    - there's been a steady stream of badass games since early October and I haven't stopped playing them to actually TALK about them on the website.

    - lame excuse or not, the site redesign has made the site less appealing than it once was. My big gripe is the confusion of groups and "official" threads. At some point, we're going to have to come to some kind of consensus on this, as a community. If we create a "group" for every major game that comes along, why bother posting threads about them in the general forums? It's redundant.

    - the mods got nerfed, and everyone knows it. Half the stuff we could previously do with little effort is now either MIA or so complicated it's rendered ineffective. Chf is just more stubborn than the rest of us. I hate to say it, but it may take a period of chaos before the staff sees the problem and addresses it, and no, it's not the people they appointed that they should be looking at.

I'm growing up *ick*. I have less time for this kind of thing than I used to. That said, I did have some ideas for a couple of blog posts that I still need to puzzle out, but I can't say when exactly they'll be posted.

    Got it, bro?

  • Well, most of them aren't fair excuses on their own, but with all of them combined I can see why we don't see you much.

  • Nub is also expecting. I'm the father BTW.

He took advantage of me when I was at my weakest...

... trying to shoot down one of those f***ing Pavelows ("SEEYA!") and saying the word "enemy" (enema, anemone, alimony, enmity, anonymity, onomatopoeia, Ted Danson)... That's alright, though. I took advantage of him when he was at HIS weakest...

... trying to make an insult that didn't involve the words "face", "mom", "shut up", or "peed in your cereal".

    Got it, bro?
