  • I recently noticed that genders are published in our profiles, I would like to suggest that perhaps "not disclosed " ought to be an option.

There are two reasons for this. The first being that not everyone is gender conforming.  Being associated with individuals like this, I understand how frustrating that they are made to choose a gender to be identified as in areas where it is not needed, like say, a video game forum.

Second, there are some who feel that if they reveal their gender to the masses, their opinion may be instantly discredited on the very basis of what they marked as said gender.  It may also lead to unsolicited attention.

I would ask to review the policy on why it is nessacary to make this information public.

  • No worries, that information is hidden from the public. Only you can see that on your profile. If you want to change that info anyways, click the "Settings" button at the top of the site, then click the "Profile Options" tab.

There is a "Not Set" option for Gender. However, there is a bug that I noticed when trying to click that option myself. The label for the word Gender on that page is covering up that option. If using Chrome, right-click on the label and choose "Inspect Element" and you can uncheck the width of it in the bottom right corner. Then you can select "Not Set" and click Save.

  • Nifty, I'll have to check that out.  Thanks for the reply.
