I am having trouble with something. I'm a suscriber to Game Informer, but yet, on my profile, it doesn't say that I am. What's up with that? I even put in my GI order # and my Edge Card # but it still doesn't seem to work. Is it because I already leveled up to level 7 and 'suscriber'  doesn't show up anymore but 'power member' does?

You see the tag next to your name that say "Premium"? Yeah, that means that you're a subscriber.

Ah... that makes more sense, thanks for answering my question.

Well, it's already been established that silver members can't create polls, but I've also noticed that the other perk silver members are supposed to gain, the ability to create our own groups, also appears to be missing in action.  I don't see any thing that says "Create a New Group" on the groups page.

Can you create a sub-group?  You should be able to create a group inside the core categories we've established.

Nope, afraid not.  Here's a screen shot of what I see:

    I don't see anything about creating a sub-category or a sub group.

  • OK, thanks for the screenshot.  This could be just like the polls issue.  Standby while I look into it.  You should have this ability by the end of the day.

  • Is there something wrong with gaining EXP points? I have recently tried to rate a few blogs and posts but it seems that that I'm not gaining any EXP points for it. It should at least add one for each rate and I have rated at least 5, but I'm still stuck with 1 point. I'd appreciate any help I can get, thanks.

Ratings points are not instant, so those may take up to 24 hours to accumulate (usually no more than 15-30 minutes, though).

  • As for the creating groups issue, I am going to eat some crow here and admit that I cannot immediately turn that on.

I have identified the issue with granting permissions for it, so that change will happen quickly, however the default groups settings that each group would have are broken, and basically give too much access to the rest of the site, making us unnecessarily vulnerable.  Now I know I can trust our elite silver users now, but don't want to have to manually change the settings for all groups in the future.  It is just an unnecessary risk.

So, long story made slightly less long, I can turn it on but don't want to until some code changes are made.  I cannot accurately forecast when that will be, but I'm hoping it will be relatively soon.

  • Thanks for the feedback Sean!  Alright, we can go without for now.  Honestly, aside from the Site Feedback group I'm not particularly involved in other groups anyways.  I just pointed out the problem because I'm sure that eventually a silver member who does care about creating groups will come along some day.

  • I was actually looking to reform some of the old forum cliques. I can definitely wait though, I'm just a bit anxious for it.

  • @ Sean, there is an issue from points that should have been added on Sat 11/7 I have posted a bug report on here. On this date I did not receive any points from my activity which has cost me 120 total points, is there something being worked on to update this as noone has responded to me yet.

When will the developers of games let us actually gamers come up with a creative game idea? The world may never know....

I was just about to ask about this. Good to know. Whenever you manage to get it working, I think I'll add a Super Smash Bros. Group to the Fighting Groups section.

  • Sorry for the double post, but this has been bothering me for a while:

Why is it that there is a "Recipients" bar in the options for starting a Conversation, but it will not allow you to add anyone else to it? I have tried everything I can think of to add other users to my conversations, mostly because I want to have just one central place where I can post to tell everyone who plays the Brawl Betting Game when I put up a new match. That would be extremely convenient.

I'm not sure, maybe this is just an error for me. Can anyone tell me how to add other people?

This is actually a holdover from an out of the box program we are using for conversations, which could also have been used for sending e-mails (which we don't allow).

There are two ways we can go with it, enable adding other people, or just remove the box to avoid confusion.  We'll look into both options in 2010 (which is pretty close, so I'm not saying it'll take forever).

  • Well, I hope you decide to let us add more people. That would help a lot. As-is, if I want to schedule a new betting match, I have to go and notify everyone who has already bet. (Well, I don't have to, but I promised I would.)
