  • Yeah, it is all set up, but I don't get the e-mail notifications.

'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.

Were you getting notifications before, and then they stopped?  Or have you never received them?

  • when people edit a blog it changes the created date therefore on the main user blog menu people could keep theres up on top to get more views

You cant believe everything you hear on the Internet, that's how World War 1 started.

Yes. I dislike this too. I'll admit that it's helped me out in terms of exposure when I added pictures to some of my blogs in retrospect, but I'll agree it's really not hair that users can exploit it and remain at the top of the blog screen indefinitely. Similarly, people who have legit reasons to edit their blog (like I had to change a couple of errors in one of them this morning) put it back at the top of the list, and I feel bad, but that's how the system works.

I think that if they got the database to only look at original post dates or posted oroginal post time and date as well as "edited on" - we'd see people who were using this an an exploit decrease.

CAUTION: Shawn's blog increases the risk of intelligence.

  • I think it's still worth noting that it's not possible to move between pages in the threads of a group's forums, this very thread being a prime example. I hope this gets fixed sometime soon.

I'm also seeing that it's still possible to post anonymously. I was under the impression that anonymous posting was going to go away a couple days after the new site launched, is that not the case?

It shouldn't be possible, and all of our settings point to it not being possible - and yet...

As for the paging in the groups' forums, that is very, very near to being out there.  You're one of our best QA testers!  I'm using you as a tag.

  • Haha don't mention it!  I'm just glad to have a place to report bugs as I see them, and that there's staff dedicated to following up on reported bugs.  This is GI's show, I'm just a fan who wants the new community to be the best it can possibly be.

Edit:  A new bug has caught my attention!  Apparently there's no way to visually tell when a thread has been locked by staff or mods.  This is problematic for general users and the mods as well as they apparently have to go into their moderator controls in order to check if a thread has already been locked or not (referencing this screen shot that was posted in this thread).

  • Is there any way to make it so that sticky and announcement threads don't take over the entire first page in the main forum page?

  • I'm just waiting to hear back about the Sticky issue dbull.

I've also mentioned the lack of a Lock or Move indicator a while ago, so the powers-that-be are aware of it as well.

  • It's not a bug so much as a really apparent grammatical error.

When I leave a comment on another member's profile page, the dialogue box reads, "You're comment... will appear shortly," or something to that effect. It should read, "Your comment..."

Sorry, I know it's picky-- but I would want someone to let me know if I'd worked as hard as you guys did to make everything perfect.

  • Since I can't view any other pages in this thread besides the first and last, I hope I am not bringing up something that has already been addressed.  I have noticed that although I have rated some user blogs I have not received points for doing so.  Now it's only one point so not a big deal, but there ya go.

  • Is there any way to remove the reply window and reply buttons from a thread that's already been locked?  It's bad enough that nobody can tell if a thread's been locked just by looking at it, but when you try to respond to a locked thread only to find out that you wasted your time since your post was immediately discarded/blocked, it crosses the line to highly irritating.

I fixed this.  So it should be in the next batch of bug fixes.

And it's not picky at all, grammatical/spelling problems are super easy to fix and they make the site look a lot better.

Looking into the points, but as to not being able to see the other pages in this thread, that will be resolved this week if everything goes according to plan.

  • I'm still having a pretty big amount of trouble with my blogs.

Firstly, and I know Andy said you guys are working hard on this so I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but my blog still isn't showing up on the main page under most recent entries.

Secondly and more importantly, the "Excerpt" and "PageBreak" tags just aren't working for me. Part of it may be that Phil Kollar's blog doesn't explain it in detail (no offense, Phil, the rest of the blog is very helpful). But when I enter into HTML mode and add the tags, they jump around by their own free will after I update. I can't create an excerpt because the Excerpt tags will move, randomly, to different selections of my blog every time I update, and the PageBreak is doing just the same, so I can't make pages either.
