  • Holy crap...

I have to agree, we need new users to fill out a capcha field before signing up for the site.  This is out of hand.

  • hey, sudden idea thing. We might be able to make this a sort of a reporting thread, where we (normal users) could just copy/paste the urls and then let the mods take care of the rest. would that work?

    Example: http://gameinformer.com/members/buy-testosterone-boosting-side-effects/default.aspx Fire away, mods.

During the Wii's console cycle, only 2 games got a perfect score from GI. Both were Zelda games.

    gg, Nintendo. gg.

  • It's not that easy. The mods can't do jack to blogs, the only ones with that power at the moment are Sean and Nick.

  • dbull, you have a Twitter account! Tweet Sean!

    And Nick!

  • Yeah....capcha. that's what I meant. LOL. There's no way in hell I'm filling one out for every post until I'm level 5 though. What a royal pain in my a$$ - and I'm level 8!

  • Actually, i was hoping you guys had the power to kick users, but if you guys can't do anything to blogs, then i might me mistaken. guess i overrated you guys.

  • On the old site mods could ban people, but on the new site that's a feature they haven't worked in yet.  Again, only Sean and Nick can bring the ban hammer.

  • Ah, i see. all in due time. I'll just let the saber-spamming zero hypnotize me until it's solved, then. 'Night, everybody.

  • THUNDERCATS AWAY!!!

they should do more than just a single captcha the first time you sign up.. because then someone could do it manually.. then let the machine do it..

they should make you do a tiny captcha  for every comment/blog/friend invite etc# until level 5 so it would be to laborious to decipher for a spammer, whereas for the regular person putting in 3-4 numbers isn't all that bad.

and if someone were to take aaaaall the time to get to a lv 5 and then spam since it took so much longer there would be alot less spammers and thus easier to bust them.

  • maybe if mods could get power to flag users which notifiy staff... with higher priority.. and the user could deposit the adblogs here or on the new spam sticky? which lets you know and track down the blogbots for flagging

its a process... tapping, flagging flogging

and why not merge the two spam threads?

  • Here are the IPs and some bit of info about all of the sites that this spammer is sending us too..

74.213.177.13 (UK)  lots o' clone sites..,

62.109.1.60 (Kazakhstan? lol) X3 different sites, claim to be in different places US,UK, Africa, Amsterdam, etc# all clones of course..

77.68.46.148 (UK) lots o clone sites...

195.95.155.21 (Netherlands) claims to be Canadian? yeah..

i doubt these are going to work considering they are just URLs and not the host or the person actually sending them unless it's one of the people that actually work at these sites..

it is plausible seeing how these sites are obvious scams themselves so spamming isn't that far off.. it's just the varied IPs...

i checked the IPs of AAAALL of the sites that the spammer is sending us and after like 2 different posts the rest of all the IPs were exactly the same, despite the several faces..

    Hope this helps..

  • the spamming stop is i guess it was already dealt with lol..

  • I can see how Pat isn't on much. Pat without a banhammer is Burger King without burgers.

Oh oh right, this spam stuff. Really bad.

Not sure if the abuse emails I posted were removed, but you cant just go at the spammer - it's like running down stairs in the dark - you notify the ISP and hosts and they shut the spammers down.
