The lights are on
Please bear with us as we have launched in beta so you may notice a bug or two. The best thing you can do is let us know right here in the Site Feedback Forum. Have a question or comment regarding the new site? This is your place.
Oh I see, you wanted to redirect people to the groups and their subsequent forums. I misunderstood what you were getting at.
Yeah, that could definitely work, especially if we assign specific mods to monitor specific groups. As far as having a text file to copy/paste various generic responses, I already have a couple of templates ready to go at a moment's notice, so I can attest to the usefulness of that.
I also agree that it'd be better to just out right delete some of these duplicate threads from the main forums and direct the author to a given game's group via a conversation message instead of just locking them down and pointing to the general discussion thread.
I know you guys don't have the tools to do what you gotta do, I know if you did you sure as hell would do a great job at it. But I like Satoris's idea. It could work, and write new forum rules to make sure people go to those threads so you guys don't have to keep moving them and reminding people.
i like how our ff group is getting this much attention in this discussion. I for one love the group concept it gets all people interested in the subject to sit and chat freely, and since me and a few others joined the ff group it simply just took right off. I am also one that will scour the forums for ff related questions, comments, etc.. and answer anything I can and also redirect these conversations to the group with friendly invite and links, and most of the time this does work as the users on the group continue to get larger and larger and making it that much more fun to be involved with.
When will the developers of games let us actually gamers come up with a creative game idea? The world may never know....
I know this is something that's been stated before, but new users should really have to reach at least level 5 to make new threads. So many new users post a ton of threads and it would really be a lot better if they had to learn how things work before being capable of making new threads.
i think newer users should pass a test first before than can post new threads
Something like.... "to gain the ability to post a thread answer this " 2*3=?", create a thread to post your answer"....
CAUTION: Shawn's blog increases the risk of intelligence.
I guarantee most would fail that quiz.
it'd still be neat to watch someone try and figure it out
I think that the quiz idea would be pretty funny. You would have to make it hard, it would make people get worked up about it!
the quiz would be simple, what icon do you choose to edit a post? where do you find the search button? what is or isn't a general discussion post, here list multiple ideas and yes/no style, just a suggestion and probably the failure rate would be extremely high
I'd stay away from icons.... I mean... 'edit' isn't a college word, and if anything put it in a green bg tab like the blue one for post reply. using too many icons just makes thing look sophomoric. As it is, the site is a clean '08 wordpress theme (not a bad thing, but he angled wraps are sort of a trend right now...
i hear ya shawn, and i'm tired of seeing posts like ughh i mispelled that here's the correction, or i meant to say this, very frustrating since it's not rocket science
perhaps addind the abiloty of rateing a coment
Seriously, the forumns suck on this website. Half of them do not even work. I wold suggest that this webite would fix the problem of actually being able to post something for once.
