  • I loved the original movie, will the new one stack up?

  • From the trailers alone, the CGI makes it better.

As for the story, I don't know.

    I loved the original myself.

  • @Morphina

Lies and slander!!! The Harryhausen stop motion claymation figures are awesome and CG will just look cheesy in comparison...

If you bred HK-47, Shale, Chai Ka and Wrex, the gaming world would explode from sheer badassery.

  • Cool, another Harryhausen fan. I got all the Sinbad movies, Clash of the Titans and Jason and the Argonauts. My kids and I love watching them.

For me it's just the details in the CGI.

Other than that, the old COTT still makes me happy in my heart.

  • I do have to admit though, the shots I've seen of the new Krakken are very impressive.

  • I loved the original movie. I half agree with Demon of Elru, the stop-motion is awesome but the CGI looks good to. I just hope they don't ruin the film

Now you know what I mean.  It' stuff like that made me say my original statement.

As says, I too hope the story isn't ruined just for the sake of eye candy.

  • Overall, it looks like it could be a decent time waster, action-wise, but the story honestly looks pretty dum.

  • @TBBucs20

The story looks dumb? Have you ever read Greek mythology. I can't think of any Greek story that was dumb. They are all awesome, and this one is as well, though I don't know why that can't keep with the original story. It was changed in the original version to have Thetis be the villain god, and in the new version, apparently Hades is the villain (even though in the original Greek story, Hades was the god that gave Perseus the Helmet of Invisibility (which was Hades' personal favorite piece of armor)). Originally there was no god against Perseus, just man. The Cetus (Krakken) was released purely because of Cassiopeia's vain declaration that she was more beautiful than the Nereids, the children of Poseidon, which angered him greatly. There was no devious plots by the gods.

I have read that Harryhausen was involved with the filming of the re-make. Apparently, they came to him frequently with their ideas and questions.

  • The story goes that Perseus' mother was locked up in a tower by her father and a Zeus came in and made her pregnant. The father banished the to to the sea to see if she was favored by the Gods and she was and ended up being found by a fishing boat. The boat took them to their island and the king there gave Perseus and his mother anything they wanted. After a couple of years the king wanted Perseus' mother to marry him so he sent Perseus on a quest to get the head of Medusa. Perseus asked for help from the Gods and Hermes told him where to go. Hermes also told him that the weapons needed to kill the gorgon where made by Athena. After he found out where to go he went and got the weapons (which included a Cap of Invisibleity, a new moon sword, and a shiled so polished that it looked like a mirrior) he went and slayed Medusa. On his way home he saw cassiopeia chained to a rock and the Kraken coming at her. He went down and asked what was going on. Her father told him the his wife pissed off Poseidon and he demanded a sarifice. Perseus went over and used the head of Medusa and killed the beast and took Cassiopeia as his wife. When he finally got home he found out that the king tricked him and he used the head on everyone in the room and saved his mother. After that he gave the shield to Athena and the cap to Hermes and kept the sword for himself.

  • I liked the original and for the same reason I'll like the remake. I enjoy greek mythology so I'm bias and just going to say its gonna be good either way. As far as being a great movie, that I'm not too sure. As long as it's action packed I'll probably watch it more than once. It's sort of like comic book movies for me, you hope they get the story right or at least have good action. In the end I'll still watch it to see the characters come to life.

  • So this movie is good if you just pretend that Greek mythology was never written. In other words, it was horrendous. Why is it that American's try so hard to make Hades a bad guy in movies. He isn't a bad guy. Also, the Krakken is a titan, he didn't kill the titans. Perseus doesn't become king either. He falls for Io instead of Andromeda.

  • @Demon of Elru  Now do you see what I mean about the story looking dumb? I don't think that Greek mythology, in general, is dumb by any means. Although, when you try to use it as the framework for an action film that stars Sam Worthington, and is directed by the guy who did Transporter 2, it probably won't be very intelligent. I still haven't seen it, and most likely, never will.

  • The original was a masterpiece that inspired God of War. The remake is simply God of War the movie. When I watched it in theaters, it screamed God of War. Perseus is practically a Spartan wanting revenge on Hades for the death of his family, and also hates the Gods of Olympus, most specifically Zeus. Trust me, if you loved the original Clash of the Titans, do NOT watch this remake, even if they try to trick you with an alternate ending. If you want to see how else they ripped off God of War, check out this blog on the very topic. Peace.
