After reading the Batman Chronicles Vol II that I had autographed by the late Jerry Robinson (may he rest in peace), I decided to keep reading this series as it's hilarious and gives us an insight into how the original Batman was. I highly recommend it if you all haven't read any of it already.
My pull list
Vocatus atque non vocatus deus aderit.
Never heard of this series. Might have to check it out if it's humor and Batman. Not too much humor in Bat's stories....
Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words:
"With great power comes great responsibility." This is my gift, my
curse. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man.
Ah yes, The infamous "Quiet or Papa spank!" line can be found in volume 1 along with Batman's view on capital punishment. It's also filled with a lot of campy talk and a nice bit of Robin doing his part. I may post some pictures from my copy.
so I'm assuming these are just reprints of the old 50's comics, which, by today's standards, is horribly campy
"If you really loved me you'd all kill yourselves right now" -Spider Jerusalem
@Chaos is Beauty: Yes, but they're reprints of all the Batman comics starting with his first appearance so they're even campier than you'd imagine. Frankly, I love the old, crazy Batman who kills criminals. xd. The pictures I've included are just a sample of the fun you'll find in these books and they're all taken from my personal copies. I don't own the rights to Batman and blah, blah, blah. Almost all of these should be labelled by both issue volume and issue number for easy referencing if you so choose. Enjoy!
Here, there be SPOILERS !More awesome photos from old Batman. The second one is a spoiler for one of the stories.
This is from Batman Vol 1 #1
He's so cold-hearted! (Batman Vol 1 #2)
These are so crazy. I read one where the joker becomes ambassador for some middle eastern country and is trying to amass WMD's etc. He even had the turban. :-D
um, I think that was in birds of prey, these are from before birds of prey or even batgirl even existed
lol I know, they have all 10 or so volumes of these (Batman Chronicles) at my library. It was in volume one I think. What you saw was probably a throwback to what I'm referring to etc..
im reading vol. 1 right now
I recently got Vol. 1 on ebay. Its interesting to see how much the writing has changed over the past 70 or so years. They're so cheesy!
One died in India. Three was tracked down in Brazil. I am the only one left. I am The Second Musketeer
@The Second Musketeer: Yeah, they are by our reading experience nowadays but they're great fun. I'm only up to four but plan to have them all (like Pokemon) eventually.
Yeah I'm glad I found it. I want to get the Superman Chronicles sometime as well.
@The Second Musketeer: I've never been much of a Superman fan but I did notice a new volume was out on display last week at the LCS. I may check those out eventually.
