So Im convinced that Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's Locke & Key series is top of the line. I just finished the Crown of Shadows hard cover and it was AMAZING!!! I dont like to throw my opinions out so lightly, but this series for beginning to end it great. The story is some of the best mellow/horror/drama/adventure I have ever read. Joe Hill is doing a great job of getting out from the shadow of his dad (Stephen King). The art of Gabriel is amazing for the stories tone. Some might not like it, but I find Locke & Key to be top shelf from most of todays comics.
Your thoughts????

Unfortunately, I haven't read this series, and I hardly know anything about it. But if you're saying it's this good, I may just have to take a peek.
Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: "With great power comes great responsibility." This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man.
I've never really had the drive to read this series, if i still had the means or the heart to download it (illegally I might add which is one reason I don't do it anymore) I probably would and I'm sure I would enjoy it, especially since Joe Hill is the son of the greatest author of our time Stephen King, and every one of his books has sold like wildfire, but I'll probably pick it up when it's finished, just like I'm doing with Mark Waid's Irredeemable

Dudes I would totally take the time to at least read the first hard cover Welcome to Lovecraft. If you dont like it or if it doesnt make you want to read the the other two (Head Games, and Crown of Shadows) I apologize for leading you astray. But I think its worth a look.
yeah I'm sure it is too, but he still has like 3 more mini series planned and I'm not the most patient guy around, so I'll probably get it once the series is finished
'Locke & Key' is being made into a TV show that will supposedly be airing Summer 2011. Figured you should know in case you didn't already. Fox and Dreamworks are apparently the ones making it. Neil Gaiman's 'Sandman' is also being made into a TV show, but I don't recall what company is making that potential train wreck. I loved 'Sandman,' and I especially love Neil Gaiman (MirrorMask, anyone?) and if they *** up 'Sandman,' I will go on a rampage. Hulk smash, God ***. Hulk muthafuckinSMASH!
agreed. I saw that on the net. I hope they are both done well since they are both dare I say it ............. AWESOME TO THE MAX!!!................................I dare
more like Neil Gaiman (mirrormask, neverwhere, stardust, and all kinds of other awesome stuff!)
Stardust was surprisingly good. But I gotta say, Gaiman's MirrorMask was a full on epic acid trip into the mind of a comic book legend. I absolutely LOVE that movie. I have seen it a TON of times, and have a signed copy of the DVD.
he's been around for a ridiculous amount of time and it's surprising so few of his works have been adapted into film or other media, sort of like Clive Barker
Yeah, but unfortunately almost everything that Clive Barker makes that is translated into another medium becomes a horrible monstrosity and terrible thing made of the tears of small children.
the first Hellraiser was pretty good, not sure about anything else, probably because he doesn't have the same amount of control he does with his writing (Mr. B. Gone was actually written to seem like the book was posessed, why no one else ever thought to try something that awesome I dunno) also back to Gaiman, I'm holding out for a hundred bucks needed to get my mitts on absolute sandman 1, but I seriously wanna read that series based on how awesome it sounds! (winning an award meant only for literature?! Gaiman getting crap from the comics code for using the word masturbation in an issue about a serial killers convention? That just screams awesome to me, also gas masks are cool, and a quick flip through the paperback for volume showed gas masks a'plenty!)
I'm tellin' ya, Gaiman is a beast. Him and Alan Moore are two of my favorite writers. I already have the entire Sandman series. It's DEFINITELY a recommended book in my opinion.
Alan Moore is great, but until I found how amazing his Swamp Thing run was I had almost given up on old man Moore, his ideas are creative and unique, but some of his better known works turned me off with their deep writing, I'm all for comics exploring adult philosophical themes, but Moore just kinda overdid it for me, I mean if I'm reading a literary classic I expect it's writing to be complex and at times hard to follow and become engaged, when I read a comic I want something that will engage and satisfy me, which is why (while Moore himself may disagree...for some reason) I feel his greatest, or at least most engaging work was the killing joke, and I've recently found that swamp thing is the next best thing, and I get the feeling the gothic horror style is a good warm-up for sandman
You want a good Alan Moore comic, dig up Big Numbers. There's only 2 issues of it, and the rest were never printed or finalized, but they are, hands down, Moore's greatest work. Big Numbers was supposed to be Moore's masterpiece and he planned out every single panel into minor detail to make it absolutely perfect. Independently printed, the only 2 books released were incredibly powerful. It's about Chaos Theories and the effects of large scale changes in life are displayed on a micro level. Brilliant work. Unfortunately, the series got canceled after the second book because the artist, Bill Sienkiewicz, couldn't handle the workload of what he had for major comics as well as working on Moore's independent stuff.
