The lights are on
Maybe you can't read Japanese, but you don't have to in order to appreciate anime or to hang out here. Talk with others about your favorite manga, movies, and artists.
Here is a good debate, which is better manga or anime? I know that both are awesome beyond compare, but I just wanna know what others think. I myself like both and can't decide which, if not both, is better.
It really depends on how true to the source material the anime stays. As long as it's mostly faithful to the source material I'll chose the anime, otherwise I'm more inclined to read the base material.
I'm more of a manga type of guy. Anime captures the action in real time, but I like manga over anime. Manga is like a book and a anime put together. Manga has the depth and complexity of a book with the art direction and kinda real-time action that you would image it would be like from an anime. Also, almost every anime out there is based of the original manga, only sometimes the anime goes completely off tangent with the manga and sometimes omits very important parts from the manga.
The iDOLM@STER : A game for real men.
I prefer anime over manga most of the time because the addition of tone of voice really helps with delivery of some lines. Music also can help to really "make" certain scenes. By contrast though, manga tends to go into more detail into what's going on, so sometimes it's easier to see the bigger picture of a story by reading the manga first before getting the watered-down version in the anime.
I would have to be in pretty much 100% agreement with what Spazure just said.
To me, I guess it also depends in whatever mood I'm in.
Yeah i agree with what you guys are saying cause i'm hal-n-half. I believe that, like sakabato said, if you read the manga for the anime you will get a better understanding and feeling for the anime. i also believe in wat dbull says, that if the anime goes way off the path of the manga then it doesn't sit well with me and i'll rely on the manga more.
Anime. Because I don't have to read Anime.
Just not reading the manga, ever, helps with that whole problem. If I ever hear one more person say "The book was better." I'm going to blind them with hot irons.
I'm awesome.

Anime is my preferred method, but to be honest before I ever watch an anime or buy anything anime I take a look at the manga first just to see if perks my interest.
When will the developers of games let us actually gamers come up with a creative game idea? The world may never know....
Neither and both at the same time....you can't really compare because they are two different mediums and are both good for different reasons.
Anime is what I enjoy.
Manga's really aren't really my cup of tea.
Mangas are better if you really want to understand the depth of a story as they will show more as in the amount of blood in a fight and things of this nature. Take halibel from bleach. Manga her top cuts off halfway over her b**** *i would say the word but not sure of the rules on it..ill look later when i get off work* but in the anime they are covered up. This is the case in almost any anime.
Everybody dance now
Yeah I kinda agree with ya on that meta. They probly do that for reasons like the FCC are wussies and that they believe little kids watch show like that. and how did you get the thing with your user name and the bleach pics below the video clip on your comment box
I saved it to my photobucket account and took the [IMG] code and posted it in signiture
To me it really depends on what the art is being used to accomplish. I enjoy both styles of artwork but if I'm going to be watching a television show, I'd much rather have the feel of Anime. When I want to read a good graphic novel based with Japanese art style, I would definitely pick Manga.
It's not that one is better, and the other gets put aside, it just depends on the artist and the source of entertainment you are looking for in my mind.
