Yoshi’s New Island Launch Trailer Explains What's Old And What's New

Yoshi's New Island releases on Friday for 3DS (and 2DS), and a new launch trailer showcases what's new, and what has stayed the same.

If you played Yoshi's Island on the Super Nintendo then much of what you know and love remains intact. Additions, some of which have been outlined before, include new egg types, new vehicle transformations, and single-cart multiplayer minigames across multiple 3DSs.

Yoshi's New Island releases this Friday March 14. For more on the game, head here.

We featured the Super Nintendo Yoshi's Island as a Super Replay back in 2011. You can check out all of the episodes here.

  • I used to think that this game's art style evoked horrifying memories of that freaky Yoshi's Story game. I don't know why it isn't flippin' me out as much this time around. It looks kinda like a water color painting to me now, and I'm getting more of a Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island feel from it.
  • This game looks pretty fun.

  • Original is among my top 3 favorites of all time. I doubt that this will match it, but it does looks good. I like that it sort of looks like the original too, but has its own look to set it apart.
  • All I know is this game will bring me infinite joy. Can't wait for friday.

  • They really REALLY need to quit trolling that white 3ds. We don't get it over here in the states!!! Still can't wait for this one though.

  • I am probably the only one on this site that is more excited for this game than Titanfall. Call me old school, but I will take a platformer over a FPS any day. And no, I did not buy Titanfall. I am saving my money for New Yoshi. I am addicted to my 3DS like a crackhead is to crack.
  • What's the thing with those flying condoms ? ....disturbing.
  • Giant eggs are new. Everything else is old.

  • It looks fun, but somehow based on this trailer I'm finding the sound design lacking. Sound effects that had impact in Yoshi's Island (like the loud pop when you make eggs or the little transformation tune) are changed to very gentle noises, while others like the coin grab seem too loud and obnoxious.

  • Mod

This looks awesome! It makes me want to plug my SNES in and play the original one! I hope to get this one soon!

  • It looks pretty fun cute game.
