The lights are on
Tecmo Koei has announced a release date for their hack-and-slash game. New features, characters, and visuals are promised.
Taking a page out of Dynasty Warriors, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate has you fighting hordes of foes as various legendary samurais and fighters with hack-and-slash gameplay. The battlefields allow for up to 100 enemies to be on screen at once.

The new characters included in this version bring the total number of playable characters up to 145. In addition to the famous ancient samurais, you will be able to fight as characters from Soulcalibur, Dynasty Warriors, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Dead or Alive 5, Atelior Rorona, and Samurai Warriors.
As well as crossover characters, there will be new crossover stages from Dynasty Warriors, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Atelior Rorona, and Samurai Warriors, bringing the total number of stages to 51. The PlayStation 4 version will include improved textures and better lighting as well.

Though these games are typically known for their fast-paced and intense combat, Tecmo Koei is also expanding the game's storyline, adding a new main storyline as well as additional side stories.
The game is currently available for pre-order with both Best Buy and GameStop are offering exclusive pre-order costumes. PlayStation players will also have access to cross-save functionality. (Note: GameStop is Game Informer's parent company.)

*throws laptop through window*
Wow. That's a lot of playable characters! My goodness.
Can't wait. Loved Warriors Orochi 3
I wasn't expecting that many playable characters. I'm a bit interested since I don't mind those mindless hack-n-slash games. I may pick this one up down the road.
Never played the second one, but I loved the first one. Love when they're they make fictional stories/scenarios with these characters.
yea i'll probably buy it again for next gen even though i have it for 360
And you can transfer your PS3 data to the PS4 version.
Could they at least have a Wii U version for people like me who got Hyper. I'm going to have blast through the original stuff to reach those new chapters, at least the cross-save will make it easier. Susano'o is my favorite character in the Wii U version, but he doesn't get unlocked until after you beat the true ending. Hopefully I won't have to get Ultimates new ending to grab him this time around. Speaking of endings, please let Ultimate have something more in line with the game's theme as its true ending, the original true ending didn't fit with the rest of the plot in my opinion.
I'm pretty sure the plural of "samurai" isn't "samurais" and is still just "samurai" but otherwise this was a pretty solid preview.
Time to wait for the PC version like DW8.
Wait, you mean this'll be a hard copy game? On a disc? As in, no motherf****ing digital download?!
*scream of exultation shatters all windows in house*
(For those of us without Internet access, that would be the greatest gift of all!)
Japan version already released on June 26th lol
Thank god the PS4 is region-free since mine is coming in on the 30th of June.
But But! Atelior Rorona is MOE as all ***! how will that translate into a warriors style game???
