Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Trailer Springs Into Action

Despite the Warhammer 40K franchise's roots in strategy miniatures, the latest trailer for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 title Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine shows that the game is not afraid to get its hands dirty.

The third-person action shooter (from Relic Entertainment) tries to blend visceral melee attacks with ranged shooting via a seamless transition between the two seemingly disparate fighting styles. Take a look.

Be sure to read our extensive E3 preview for more info on the game.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine comes out on September 6.

  • Sweet!

  • Looks good but I got so many other games on my list. GAH! Games are costly.
  • Can't wait for this game. I love Warhammer 40k, too bad it's not a Chaos Space Marine game though.
  • I can dig it! However, thinking about it from the viewpoint of someone who may not be familiar with the property... it seems like a very generic and uninspired project. I hope they have some way to advertise to the masses successfully :(
  • And I'm The Situation.

  • I know what the Warhammer stuff is but never had actually hands on experience with the property. I'm going to wait for reviews...which could really go either way(especially now that most reviewers have gotten sloppy in becoming to opinionated about the title and basing their score more off of game preferences instead of the quality of the game itself).
  • Oh yeah, been wanting a warhammer game of this caliber for many years.
  • I was a little skeptical of whether or not this game was going to look good but I have to say that it really does. I can't wait to try it out now.
  • Seems more of a cash grab than anything else.

  • that armor is way to big

  • Looks fun but i have other games to get first.
  • One of the best series in the world just got a whole lot better.

  • This looks like a bloody good time!

  • it could be good, but i'll most likely end up picking this one up in the bargain bin a year from now lol
  • dont know much about Warhammer but this looks really good

  • Love 40k.  Keeping my eye on this one.

  • OK, I'm gonna geek out here and ask why a GIRL is dressed in Cadian armor? Or is that just "generic" Imperial Guard that has female regiments? I smell non-canon here somewhere.
  • I'm happy. I love WH40k. Ultramines are great. But I'm going to be a lore snob so stay w/ me. Titus or whatever this 'captain' is named, is said to be the leader of the Ultramarine's Second company. Games Workshop has clearly stated--in both game pieces & novels-- that Cato Sicarius is the captain of the Ultramarine's Second Company. There are story lines that specifically focus on the competition between Sicarius & other members of the Ultramarines. I will buy the game on day one, but this will eternally bug me unless it is worked out at some point during the game. Also, a captain being only 150 years old is a bid odd. Surprised Relic didn't change that.
  • Never really followed the Warhammer franchise, but will have to check this one out, looks not to bad.
