Dontnod and Focus Home Interactive announced a new project today, entitled Vampyr.

Vampyr is a role-playing game that takes place in early 20th century Britain when the Spanish flu is causing great distress and death. That's not the people of London's biggest worry, however. Vampires are roaming the streets, just waiting for their next victim. You play as Jonathan E. Reid, a former military surgeon, who is now a vampire.

The biggest choice you must make over the course of the game is who will be your prey. After all, sooner or later you must eat. Every character in the game has the potential to be your next victim. Essentially, you'll interact and get to know these characters before you decide if they're your next meal. You must carefully strategize how you'll seduce the victim and feast on them without getting caught. Feeding will also give you access to new vampire powers. But remember, once you chow down on a person, they're gone forever. Dontnod promises this will have an impact on the world around you.

Combat takes place in real-time, complete with ranged shooting mechanics and melee attacks. The game also features a crafting system, so materials you loot can be used to improve tools, weapons, and guns. Also, beware: Other vampires will also hunt you down, so you're never safe.

Vampyr is set to release in 2017 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
