Launch Trailer Brings Us Back To The Island

Not since the end of LOST have we so eagerly wanted to return to an island. The Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition launch trailer shows off some of 2013 game’s set pieces as they’ve been retooled for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Whether you want to play on Microsoft’s new system or Sony’s, the game is running at 1080p. As for frame rate, which has been a point of heated discussion in some circles recently, Square Enix tells us, “Anything beyond 30fps for this version is gravy.”

You can check out the trailer below. Be sure to also read our review of the original release, as the gameplay hasn’t changed.

  • Lost?
  • Didn't get to play this the first time around, pumped to get the chance on PS4
  • Is this releasing with a full $60 price tag? I feel like $40 is the sweet spot. Also from what I have read it's 60 FPS on PS4 and 30 FPS on XBO. Not that matters, it's not a racing game. I also wonder if having two different developers work on the separate platforms made any difference. Edit: I didn't want this to be some console fanboy, deathmatch comment. The article just said there was debate around the FPS recently, and so I just reported what I have read. I am more interested in if having two different developers work on the two versions will create some differences between the two.
  • loved this game, great work!

  • I hear you can pick up the game today
  • Beat this on the 360 and got 100% of hidden and collectible items. The game was so good that when I heard they were making a definitive edition for the XB1 I knew it would be my excuse to play thru this awesome game again!
  • Now if we could only have a Definite Edition of ME 1-3 on current gen consoles (what? Oh come on you know you are going to be tempted.) That said Bioware should get done their current projects (and launch the two ME3 DLC that have yet to be released for the WiiU version) first.
  • Well this is definatly a buy for me! I didn't get the chance to play this one on my PS3 so a retooled version for the 4 is welcomed indeed.

  • Such an amazing gem! Truly in my top 3 of 2013. I have a $120 in PSN wallet, I am so tempted! However, probably getting Thief and inFAMOUS Second Son.

This is really tough for me as I couldn't stop playing the game. Day after day I kept playing and never taking a break from Tomb Raider to play another game. Which come to think of it is something I am having problems with right now! LOL! If only they offered this game at a 50% discount for gamers that bought the digital version. If you have not played the last gen version then buy it D1 you will not be disappointed!

  • I'll be renting it as I don't think it's worth another $65 to play something I've already played, only shinier.
  • I will be getting this later down the road when it is cheaper. Sucks that it's starting out at $60. Sucks that it is full priced, when a lot of people have played it.
  • Amazing game but no time to replay...come on Lords Of Shadow 2!
  • I don't think it was quite as good as the reviews stated (there was way too much gunplay imo), but I'd anyway be interested in seeing what my PS4 can do with the gorgeous environments. But that's if they had an upgrade plan like eg. AC4, I'm sure as hell not gonna pay the full price twice.

  • 4...more...days...:)

  • I just climaxed in my pants

  • I watched the youtube video of the side-by-side comparisons and you can actually see the changes. Some of them simply look like HD but some of them are actual changes.

  • Why not just buy the original version for ten bucks on a Steam sale? on PC the graphics are just as good in the original version as in the so-called "definitive" edition!
  • Such a good game,I wish it wasn't full price though.

  • Want to play this really bad. Just hate that it's $60 bucks.
