Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 was a great step forward for the franchise, and EA Sports and developer EA Tiburon are further refining their winning stroke by introducing some new swing mechanics to give golfers more choice in selecting their shots.

The game comes out on March 27 here in the U.S. for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (no Wii version this year), and while the systems will make use of the Kinect and Move, respectively, the game's new swing mechanics are what will arguably propel this version of Tiger forward.

As you can see in the video below demoed by lead designer Mike DeVault, Tiger 13 combines multiple elements (some which were in past Tigers) to constitute that perfect swing: club velocity, stance, where you strike the ball, and more. Perhaps one of the changes that will be hardest to adjust to for long-time Tiger players is the fact that you can no longer just stop at the top of your swing to get the perfect power percentage you're looking for. A nice smooth motion is more important than ever.

You'll notice the caddy from Tiger 12 (click for the review) seems to be missing from this year's game, although in the video below you'll notice that there is some kind of caddy advice available if you hit the Y/triangle button. Will it be the same? We'll have to wait and see.

Stay tuned as EA Sports unveils more features about Tiger 13 in the coming weeks, including the game's Kinect integration and online country clubs.
