See Garrett In Action In New Thief Trailer

Thief is coming back in 2014, and Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal have delivered a new trailer. The footage below shows Garrett in action, infiltrating a manor and stealing everything of value in sight.

Thief will be out on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC on Februrary 25, 2014. For more, check out our narrative preview from Gamescom and our coverage from the April 2013 issue.

  • The most exciting thing about this trailer? I saw a rope arrow. :D
  • That guy looks like a soulless loser.
  • Looks awesome! Wish this was Deus Ex instead but I am excited for this game.

  • I like what I saw, but the graphics look more this gen, than next gen.
  • This game looks excellent. Can't wait to play it on my PS4!

  • Cue people complaining that the Thief series has decreased in quality .
  • Mod

The Thief series sure has decreased in quality.

  • Its unfortunate that the Thief series has decreased in quality.

  • Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!!! Still über-annoyed that they are not using Stephen Russell as the voice of Garrett. Also, has anyone heard if they will be releasing the level-design SDK? There was such a HUGE fanbase that created custom maps for the first 3 games (some of which were superior to the original game), I would hate to see that kind of enthusiasm to be left behind...
  • Looks really good. I might have to start playing the Thief series
  • end of cue

I am looking forward to playing thief next year, love me some good stealth games

  • 'Tis rather fortunate that the Thief series keeps getting better and better. This one's art style is off the charts rad. It keeps with the original look while also making it more off the charts rad. It also seems to have retained all the radness of wandering the city streets and stealing useless junk off passers by. This, Destiny, and Dark Souls II are my most anticipated games of next year.
  • Does anyone else think that when he pulls his mask down that it looks a bit like a neck beard?
    (God, I hate neck beards)
  • Even if I pretend this is a completely new game with no connection to Thief whatsoever, i'm not at all impressed by the aesthetics or the gameplay. It just looks like a generic AAA action/stealth game aimed at a mass console audience, not a passionate attempt at driving the stealth genre forward. The fact that it IS being sold as a Thief reboot just makes it seem so much worse. Not only does it seem like they're not really trying to make the best stealth game possible - they're also failing to do the previous Thief games justice. They're basically just milking the series for its name and brand awareness.
  • Potential. To let us down.

  • Can't wait to play this. I'm playing the original Thief right now and I'm enjoying it profoundly. :)

  • This game looks dark, yet stunning! I have to admit, it's going to be interesting doing first person, since the only "stealth" games I've ever done in first person was Oblivion and Skyrim. This kind of looks like a cross between Elder Scrolls and Assassin's Creed. Not a bad combination.

Have they given an actual due date on this game? I don't remember...I'd like to pre-order it, but I'd really like to have a PS4 when I do that, and I'm seriously doubting I'll get that at launch. If I don't have it before this game comes out, I'll have to miss out on that mission.

EDIT: Oh, wait. Nevermind...seems Azure's brain is turned off today...
  • Mike, do you think you think there will be a big difference between current and next generation versions of this game?  I had to cancel my Xbox One pre-order, as doctor's bills, etc. have taken away any spending money I have.  I plan to buy a Halo 5 special edition next year.  However, this game releases two days from my birthday, so I was thinking I might pre-order the 360 version, as I LOVE Thief.

  • This is looking pretty awesome, no doubt about it.
