The lights are on
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was just announced for PlayStation 4 last week at Gamescom, and if that was your first look at The Astronauts first game, you’re in for a treat. The small team of eight is using a new photgrammetry approach to visuals, which enables more realistic environments.
The video below is a 13-minute walkthrough narrated by Adrian Chmielarz (formerly of People Can Fly). The game puts players in the shoes of occult detective Paul Prospero, who is on the hunt for a boy who disappeared following a murder.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will be out for PC on September 25. The PlayStation 4 version is due next year.
I love the style of this game - would be great if it would also come out on XB1.
That looks great.
didn't expect that much. But this looks like a cool mystery title and the environment looks amazing!
I wasn't very aware of what this was, but now that I'm actually seeing it, it looks great. Can't wait to play it.
ok. that game seems awesome and is just downright gorgeous. what it will look like upon release, especially on console tbd. anyway i really love how well spoken all the devs/publishers etc in europe are. they just always seem to be better at presenting a game in videos like this than anyone in the US
Clever, original mechanics and a completely immersive world. I'm sold.
Absolutely stunning. Hope it comes to Xbox One. I still haven't decided on which current gen console to buy, but I like to keep my options open, and I definitely want this game.
Damn... I am so sold...
now this is a game that does NOT looklikebutt! WOW Im excited to play this. It looks beautiful!
the atmosphere of this has me very excited to play it. i can't wait.
I love games that showcase environment work like this. Its like playing a demo reel for a cg artist.
Anybody else get a super X-files vibe from this game?
So glad they ported this to PS4, I think it will become the norm in a year or two that PC games will most likely be also fast tracked to PS4.
Wow this is exactly the sort of thing I like. The atmosphere and the story. I've always been a big fan of weird fiction.
Wow this game looks great. I really love the mystery and I'm excited to play this on the PS4.
Hmmmm. Well, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter looks beautiful, if nothing else. I'm wary of games that rely on detective mechanics like this. It's hard to know ahead of time whether those mechanics will actually be fun to use. If the mechanics are fun, will they be fun the thirteenth time you're using them to solve a mystery, or will it just be annoying? I hope that this game's story is really engaging too- otherwise all the atmosphere in the world won't make it fun to play. I lost interest in games like L.A. noir for reasons that I worry would also make me lose interest in this game. I'll probably wait to find out how The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is reviewed. We shall see, I suppose.
I love this game and i want it.
I am looking forward to this. I will definitely be picking it up on release day.
The next Elder Scrolls game better look like this... :)
Glad to see a new game that isn't just about picking up a weapon and killing something. Loved Myst and Riven, hopefully this will be great.
