The lights are on
When J. R. R. Tolkien created Middle-earth he built a mythology much
larger than three books. While the Lord of The Rings trilogy sits at the
core of Tolkien’s massive fiction, there are thousands of untold
stories only hinted at in the books. One such story, The War In The
North, will finally be coming to life thanks to Warner Bros’ upcoming
Snowblind Studios, the team behind classic action/RPG’s like
Champions of Norrath and Justice League Heroes, has worked closely with
Tolkein’s estate to craft an official story surrounding the events that
took place in the Northern kingdoms while Gandolf and Aragorn were
fighting in Mordor and Minas Tirith.
The War In The North will allow up to three players to join forces in
a journey that has them waging war against Agandaur, one of Sauron’s
most powerful lieutenants. The games bloody violence surprised us a
little during our hands on time, but War In The North’s variety of
weapon upgrades and mix of powers should make the game more than your
average dungeon grind when it releases later this year. But don’t take
our word for it, check out the game in action below.
