Nintendo Reveals More Details, Screens From Link's Upcoming Adventure

In a little over a month, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be arriving in North America. In the meantime, Nintendo has been more than happy to stoke the coals of enthusiasm by releasing screens and gameplay details from what could be the last major release on Wii.

Today, Nintendo has blown the lid off a few things that probably weren't that tightly contained. For instance, players will be able to swim and collect insects in Skyward Sword. Interesting, yes, but probably not that big of a shocker for longtime fans. Link will be meeting up with a new race while in the water, however, with the squid-like Parella tribe. Also, those insects aren't just going to be squished between the pages of an album; they'll be useful when Link has to manufacture special magic potions. Ew.

Link will be equipped with a whip on his adventure, which is an offensive tool against enemies as well as a nice way to swing across gaps. Finally, Nintendo has revealed that one of the many floating islands that Players can explore is called Fun Fun Island. Apparently, it's a place where Link can go to have fun, but only after completing quests for the isle's lonely inhabitant. Sounds like fun.

  • Link gets a whip? I am so going to be singing the Indiana Jones theme for the entire remainder of that dungeon.
  • One reason i wish i had a Wii......another reason would be all those JRPGs such as Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandoras Tower........but they will never get localized cause Nintendo is that doesnt count....but I wish i could play Zelda!!
  • Does Epona feature in this?
  • i want to bet all the monies this is game of the year.
  • That is one freaky clown. Well, all clowns are freaky looking I guess. :P
  • Hold on. Did they just integrate Wii Sports resort into Zelda?
  • That's a big sword...
  • Wasn't the whip confirmed already?
  • So Link is going to crush the skeletons of innocent insects in order to drink? What a Dick! The whip was cool in Spirit Tracks, but the touch controls superseded that with annoyance. Fun Fun Island sounds like... fun. Like playing TP again. Ok, the only real interesting fact thus far is the new Zora wannabes.
  • This game is going to be great! No idea how im gonna balance this and Skyrim.
  • i cant wait!i got my reserved at gamestop .that gold remote is excellent!
  • From the look of that last Screenshot it looks like we'll be able to wield enemy weapons again. SWEET!

  • So Link fights Hindu gods now? That's different.
  • The scattershot looks out of place, but who cares! fantasy versions of shotguns ftw!

  • Fun Fun Island...really? Really? Is it that hard to find a native speaker to translate games.

  • looks like nintendo turned the freaky meter up to 11 with some of these guys.

  • Every time I see Link underwater I think there's going to be a ridiculously long, horrible water dungeon.
  • Link's face in the fifth screenshot is priceless.

  • Yes! These screenshots confirm Gorons! I figured they might not make the cut and be replaced by one of the new races.
  • Too bad the greedy execs at Nintendo won't share their IPs with other systems, although I LOVE Zelda and have been playing Phantom Hourglass and Ocarina of Time 3D on my 3DS, there's no way in hell I'm paying for a wii.
