Naughty Dog is known for making quality games from Jak & Daxter to Uncharted, but this isn't a "quality game", this is a literal masterpiece! The Last of Us is so great that it feels like it actually happened.
The Last of Us is mainly about two completely different people, Joel and Ellie, trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic America. Joel is a harsh, depressed, character with a sad background. Ellie is 14 year old who never saw the normal world (being the apocalypse started twenty years earlier), and has never met her parents, so she begins to act as though she is Joel's daughter. Together these to characters will journey together, facing both physical and emotional problems.
The Last of Us has probably the best graphics I've ever seen. The characters all look so realistic (probably because of their facial expressions) that I didn't think I was playing a game. The environments also are brilliant like way nature has collided with them.
I'm not going to spoil the story, or any twists, for that matter, but if you're looking for a game that very story driven, look no further. The characters all react so realistically, for example, if you though a molotov cocktail or a nail bomb and kill a good number of the enemies around, some of them will act more nervous and/or scared. In one part I was behind cover while an enemy frantically ran around, thinking he wouldn't survive (considering I'd already killed most of his team), so I tried shooting him, but my rifle had no ammo, so when I shot, a loud 'click' echoed. Hearing the click, he slowly approached my position saying I had no bullets so I might as well give up. These little details in the AI make this not only the best game I've ever played but also the most realistic.
The gameplay for The Last of Us is also amazing. If you've ever played Uncharted, then you'll catch on quickly. The inventory is also amazing. Crafting is fun and the artifacts list is great because you find out certain things that people wrote down. Upgrading doesn't add much (my opinion) but It's still a plus.
Long review short, If you want a realistic game that is story driven, has insanely detailed graphics, and great gameplay, don't turn down this amazing game. The Last of Us is most likely going to be game of the year and is probably the closest thing you'll find to a perfect game.
