  • i love skyrim skyrim as much as the next guy, but i personally think that the game fell short on my expectations.i mean i loved the game but im probably only giving it a 9/10 which is pretty low for an elder scrolls game.

i mean the game does have it's ups and downs and iv'e put around 100 hours into it but it just didn't have the feel of oblivion or morrowind, i just like oblivion better, and i have no idea why or how to explain it.

  • Everybody seems to have their favorite Elder Scrolls game, which is completely understandable. Each have their own unique atmosphere and and style. As for me, Skyrim is definitely my favorite. I loved Oblivion, but it didn't keep my attention like Skyrim did.

  • I havent played oblivion or morrowind.  will i be disappointed with controls or playablity since i started with skyrim?  My only beef with skyrim is the pretty standard complaint of the glitches. I reached level 26 with one character and couldnt proceed with the main story because the waypoint wouldnt register my arrival at greybeards destination.. Other than that I havent enjoyed a game more than Skyrim.

It really depends on what you enjoyed most about Skyrim. Some of Oblivion's quests can be a bit deeper. The Dark Brotherhood is a great example. In Skyrim, you mostly go to inns to take out targets. While Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood has quite a few interesting ones. Like taking out six people in one house without any of them seeing you.

But it also has it's shortcomings. The animations are pretty rough, by today's standards. And while the world still looks pretty great, faces can be pretty hard to look at. And combat isn't quite as smooth as Skyrim.

Morrowind allows much, much more freedom. There are potions, and spells that give you the ability to do things like, walking on air, jumping thousands of feet in the air, running at sonic speeds, and a lot more. That freedom comes with a price however, there is no quest marker, fast travel is limited to paying to travel from city to city (much like Skyrim's carriage system), and you can kill essential NPCs, which will destroy the quest line. Combat has aged extremely poorly.

All in all, Morrowind is a great RPG, with lots of freedom, and an interesting world and story. But has extremely rough combat action. Oblivion is good middle ground, offering deeper RPG elements then Skyrim, and better action then Morrowind. Though personally, Skyrim is my favorite.

  • I'm sold!! Thanks for the solid review.  I'm very interested in what you were mentioning on the Dark Brotherhood. I really enjoyed those missions in Skyrim.  As far as smooth animations and graphics, I am very forgiving, especially when you compensate with rich gameplay.  Thanks again

  • No problem, hope you enjoy it.

  • I will have to say none of there games have been disappointment. I of coarse have both the 360 & PS3. I decided to get skyrim on the PS3 this time over all i've never had a single problem with it but having a glitch once in a while, which of coarse is not big deal i expect that in a game with a lot of graphics etc....Until i started playing it again here recently & it downloaded these new updates. Lets just say whatever they did to it they need to fix but now the game runs like crap it will glitch on me countless time. For exmaple your talking about the dark brother hood i can't even finish one of the last quest's to get to the boat, now it will not allow me to go into deep water with out freezing the game instantly every single time. The other thing it has done twice in a row is i will fast travel the screen goes completly black once i'm there i hear the sound of everything around me but see nothing. These are things i've never had a problem with until this recent update. The only thing i've noticed it added was a kill cam killing someone with a bow now & now screwing up my game major with glitchs i've never had before. I expect better than this coming from bethesda before putting something out if it's going to do nothing more than mess things up 10 worst.
