The lights are on
Zenimax Online faces the difficult task of appeasing several different sets of expectations from gamers who come from different games and genres. Read on for how The Elder Scrolls Online aims to appeal to several different fanbases.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
World of Warcraft
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Rift
These are just a few elements of The Elder Scrolls Online that should appeal to the fanbases of various games. Fans of the franchise have a lot of questions yet to be answered, like how the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood will work in an MMO setting and how Zenimax Online is going to approximate the rich interactions with objects in the world that we’ve gotten used to since Morrowind. Nonetheless, writing off ESO as “just another MMO” or “WoW with daedra” is doing this ambitious project a grave disservice. This looks very interesting. I hope they put enough time into it and deliver a worth while product. It needs to stand itself apart from others which i rarely see with mmo's these days. I wish them all the luck though.
This artical almost makes me believe they can pull it off. Here's hoping!.
Sounds Excellent. My 2 favourite IPs will be MMOs, a genre (until SWTOR) I ignored. Now love.
Looks like i'm going to be 2 subscription Joe with this and SWTOR on the go - good times!!
(with some Guild Wars 2 thrown in between).
No player housing or economy? I'll pass.
I hope the combat is somewhat similar to GW2 combat. A mix between GW2 and TES3 would be cool.
I'm looking forward to it. If tes is anything like daoc (as far as the pvp server) was 10 years ago I think it will be great but I also was never a fan sitting around and playing a game with no one to talk to so I'm sorry for single player fans also if you think it might ruin the es story for you don't buy it. but for now try to think on a positive note
No 360 port= no purchase
I like how the Bethesda is going back to how they started. It's going to be interesting.
I want this game, it sounds like the first MMO that I'll actually want to pay for.
I like how the picture they used form WoW was a Vanilla (classic) background, as it should be.
I wonder if there will be proper deadric quests, and as earlier games suggest their is only one "champion" so that could inspire some pvp gameplay??
Im just stoked to finally be able to explore Tamriel as a whole. I hope that it feels more like the rest of the Elder Scrolls games. I would love it if they allowed you to use a controller for those of us who moved away from PC when Morrowind came out. 1st person really should be a must have.
Hmm, I have to wonder why there will be no player housing?
I understand that it couldnt really be done where everyone has their own individual house, but could they not do instanced housing like in EQ2 and AO?
I have to admit that playing around in my house, decorating it as much as I can and whatnot, is a major aspect of the TES games for me. I know that it is for many others as well - just look at all the mods for housing there are.
It would really be a shame if they don't have player houses.
I really want Star Wars The Old Republic and Elder Scrolls Online.
Keep them comin' you guys are doin great!
I really want this to come out for console...I love the elder scroll games and have been dreaming of the day that they make it an MMO but I don't have a gaming computer and don't want to spend a whole bunch of money to get one
