The 90's Arcade Racer
The aptly-named The 90's Arcade Racer showed off smooth Wii U gameplay today. The video, which shows the game running at 720p and 60 frames per second, takes players through the menus and right into the action of this retro racer inspired by the likes of Daytona U.S.A. and other classic arcade titles.
The 90's Arcade Racer is the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $25,000. Though it was originally a single-person project, the team at Nicalis eventually joined up to assist with development. The video shows off good-looking locales that range from ocean-front streets to a town in the mountains, to even a miniature track assembled in a child's playroom. The physics are meant to be an homage to handling in the racing games that populated the arcades of the 1990s. You can check out the latest Wii U gameplay footage below.
In addition to coming to Wii U, The 90's Arcade Racer will also be launching on PC, Mac, Linux, and mobile devices.
