The lights are on
At PAX this year, we spent a lot of time in the Indiecade, sampling some titles coming from developers you might not have heard of (yet). One of those was Tengami, a point-and-click adventure with an art style derived from Japanese paper art.
Developer Nyamyam has released a new trailer showcasing some of the gameplay mechanics. The pop-up book motif looks gorgeous, and as you can see from the trailer, you manipulate the paper by folding, sliding, and pulling.
The title will be available on iOS in early 2014. It’s coming later to Wii U via the eShop, PC, and Mac shortly thereafter. You can see the trailer below, which is backed by music from composer David Wise (Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze).
Email the author Mike Futter, or follow on Google+, Twitter, and Game Informer.
I caught information about this when Nintendo was at IndieCade backing this and about a dozen other games. I've been looking forward to it for a while.
The concept is very cool and I love the art style. It will be interesting to see how the gameplay and story shape up.
Looks interesting, nice to see some creativity and new concepts ^^.
No news of a PS4/Vita release? This could play well with the Touchscreen of the Vita and the Touchpad in the Dualshock 4.
Lovely, but Donkey Kong for me.
Seeing this, and knowing it's coming to Wii U eshop... I just want to see a new Paper Mario rip this off REAL BADLY. Or anything really - Lord knows I wouldn't mind Mario sitting out a few games after 2012-2013 brought us at least five Mario games. Kirby could do this, or Yoshi's Story, for instance.
