The lights are on
We already knew Pilotwings was going to be featured at some capacity in the new Super Smash Bros., but now we have a better idea of how. It also looks like Wii Sports Resort's Wuhu Island will be making an appearance.
The image above appears on the official Super Smash Bros. website as today's daily image. It looks like combat for the Pilotwings stage will take place on a biplane flying over the map. Presumably, the plane will also fly over over Wuhu Island from Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. Wuhu Island was also the setting for Pilotwings Resort on 3DS.
Super Smash Bros. is coming to Wii U and 3DS sometime next year.

I WANT THIS GAME SOOO BADLY!!! Its gonna be so much fun!!!!!!
I can't wait to play this!
I hope this is more like the F-Zero stage from Brawl, where you fight and the environment can hurt you, rather than just a sight seeing tour.
Wow... What an epic battlefield!
I dominated in Pilot Wings for the SNES many years ago. I'm glad the still continue with series one way or another.
Maybe the biplanes will shoot at you, Arwing-style.
For the record, I totally called it in Project SMASH.
Why do you tease me, Nintendo. WHY?!
I can't wait for this game! I hope they make more stages and characters for it because they took out the story mode.
It would be nice if they injected minigames based on the various Nintendo properties into the single player game, just for some variety. If the single player game is anything like Brawl's Subspace Emissary, I'm going to end up skipping that repetitive nonsense and opting to unlock everything in multiplayer instead again. Just turn the handicap all the way up, end a match in 2-3 hits, and you can unlock everything in an hour or two.
Really though, I say it because, I see Pilotwings, so I want a skydiving activity in the game :)
I hope the next Nintendo console plays WiiU games cause I would buy this and wait 5 years no problem.
Looking forward to this coming out.
