Japan-Only Tomodachi Collection Inspires New Super Smash Bros. Stage

A new stage based on the Japan-only DS game Tomodachi Collection has been revealed for Super Smash Bros. on 3DS.

In game director Masahiro Sakurai accompanying Miiverse post for the screen he says, "Looks like someone's enjoying the bachelor life in this pad." Tomodachi Collection released for the DS in 2009 and played a bit like Nintendo's take on the Sims, with a little of Animal Crossing sprinkled in for good measure. In the game, players would control their Mii avatars doing everyday activities.

Today marks the release of Yoshi's New Island on 3DS (read our review here), so many were expecting a Super Smash reveal related to Yoshi, who has not yet been confirmed as a fighter in the game.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS are on track for a 2014 release. For more, check out the reveals of a new Animal Crossing stage, a new Pokémon Lumiose City stage, Diddy Kong, the Mother Brain assist trophy, the Waluigi assist trophy, LucarioZelda, the Skull KidMarthSonic, a redesigned Ray Gun, the 3DS Mii Plaza, and a male Wii Fit trainer.

  • Its not Japan only anymore!!! ITS BEEN CONFIRMED FOR THE WEST, TOO!!!! Tomodachi Collection is also a 3DS game!!!! Lol
  • Um, cool I guess. I hope Yoshi does get confirmed soon though. I was surprisingly good with Yoshi in Brawl.

  • I hope Yoshi DOESN'T get confirmed! Heh heh...Heh.....hmm...
  • Still waiting for meta knight to be announced if they cut him I will be shocked.

  • nice stage

  • Why do some of these franchises never come overseas? It makes me sad :(

  • Although it isn't the announcement for yoshi, it's still a cool new stage.

  • I'm I the only one who isn't a fan of the platform exclusive stages?? I would have really preferred different characters. Some of these stages belong on the wii u but won't be there. Like the Ocarina of time stage, that is a console game(I know it was re-released on the 3ds but it was originally a N64 game). That Ocarina stage would have looked awesome in HD. Besides we wont even be able to have fights between the 3ds and wii U versions so what is the point of having the same exact roster?? All that it's doing is limiting the characters that can go in the wii u version. Oh well I'm sure it will still be a great game but not being able to check out all of the stages is going to piss me off when I get this game, as that is one of my favorite aspects of Smash Bros.
