Indie studio Beam Team Games has announced Stranded Deep, a survival simulator set on a procedurally-generated island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The game features Oculus Rift support and is headed to Steam next year.

Players of Stranded Deep need to craft tools, shelter, and weapons in order to survive the game's elements. Hunting is also a large part of the gameplay, as exemplified in the trailer below. The tools you use and the ways in which you use them will determine your ability to survive, thrive, or perish across the game's day and night cycle.

Beam wants to emphasize the reality emulated in the game: The game's website states that "supernatural horrors are a thing of the past," urging players to experience "true horror."

Stranded Deep is coming to Steam Early Access in January.
