New Star Trek Trailer Features All In-Game Footage

Want to see how Kirk and Spock's buddy adventure will play? The new video should answer some questions.

We've been very curious about the upcoming Star Trek game from Digital Extremes, which was announced at this year's E3 to a hefty amount of praise. The new game casts players into the roles of Kirk and Spock as they work together against an as yet unidentified threat.

The new trailer for the game shows off several interesting tidbits of actual playable action from the game. It's clear that Digital Extremes is working hard to have the game keep the same breakneck pacing and excitement that made the recent Abrams movie reboot so well-loved.

Check out the trailer, and share your opinions of the new Star Trek game in the comments below.

  • Wow that looked amazing Ill defintely get it

  • consider bought
  • cool. Don't know enough about it to make a solid opinion of it yet though.

  • This is being made by the same people that made Dark Sector...not sure how I feel about that...

  • I love Star Trek, but when I saw this I thought Mass Effect.

Is there going to be anything else to the game play besides shooting? Are you going to be able to explore worlds and go where no man has gone before? Will you get to meet alien civilizations? Look for dilithium crystals? I want more than shooting, I want Star Trek. I want real Star Trek, not that let's get people who never liked Star Trek, Star Trek.
  • A video game based on a movie? What could possibly go wrong?
  • I'm still bewildered by the praise this game is receiving. I mean, it's not even a very creative adaptation - it's still a cover based shooter. Not like Rocksteady's job with Batman: Arkham Asylum, where they came up with elements like Detective Mode and that freeform combat, and then piled it all onto a strong stealth framework. There doesn't seem to be anything here that hasn't been done before in, say, Army of Two. Which isn't very Star Trek-like, even if you point to the most action-packed entry in the entire franchise. I also feel like Kirk should solve more problems by punching them. So, if anything, if Digital Extreme is going to emulate another developer's game, perhaps they should be looking at High Moon's Bourne Conspiracy?

I mean it looks gorgeous and that's great. And DE can handle a third person shooter; Dark Sector was solid. But there's nothing here that's really very "Star Trek".

I guess I'll wait for a demo. But I really wish gaming journalists would stop losing their sh** over this right now.
  • This looks like Dead Space, and Army OF Two with a STAR TREK theme. Witch in my opinion could be a good thing cuz i like both of those games

  • It is only logical to say. This Star Trek Game may in fact redeem all of them. To me has a whole KOTOR feel to it and I think that is not a bad thing. I may in fact look into this one in the future...just not now as my money is tied up in two other blockbuster hits of this year PX.

  • I'm with Andy, Star Trek isn't a good universe for video games, even with inspirational music, I'm not feeling the awesomeness of this game.

  • It only took how many decades for a Star Trek game that looks even half as good as Mass Effect?

  • This game has me beamed up.

  • It needs more lens flare.

  • This looks to be what Arkham Asylum was for Batman.

  • I called dibs on Spock!
  • Boo! William Shatner's not in this!

  • How does the Covenant feel about Star Trek ripping off their plasma rifles?

  • Yep, I'm sold I wants it

  • its Star Trek & it is truly awesome
