The lights are on
2K Games has released a new trailer for its upcoming military shooter Spec Ops: The Line, and what it lacks in gameplay footage it more than makes up for with disturbing visuals. The clip takes images of American pop culture and juxtaposes them with scenes of violence and horror.
Spec Ops: The Line is set in a ruined Dubai, with the player character U.S. Delta Force soldier Captain Walker tasked with rescuing a squad of U.S. Infantry. Why Dubai? Funny you should ask.
“With all of its grandeur and opulence, Dubai provides the perfect backdrop to play out Spec Ops: The Line’s deep and complex narrative," says said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "This bold endeavor harnesses 2K’s pedigree of creating fascinating stories, settings, and worlds to create an aggressive narrative and environment that you won’t find in other games on the market. Wartime narratives evoke emotion like few things else in our culture. Players will fight through this hostile environment in Spec Ops: The Line, creating a raw and unique video game experience.”
2K promises more than a typical military shooter, with a story that blurs the lines between the typical "good guys" versus "bad guys" that we've grown accustomed to seeing. We'll learn more in the coming year. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.

Kick ass, I think this is the proper adult shooter game we've been waiting for.
this game could have extreme potential and succeed or the developers could screw up and it could suck
Wow...that was something...different? I'll wait to hear more on this, before getting too excited.
not sure what to think... lol
I hope they fixed the multiplayer b/c from what I saw from the beta it was not looking good. I think that is why they delayed it for so long. I sure hope this game turns out to be good I've been wanting it for the longest time
Let's hope the game is as good as the trailer.
hmm. we'll see what they do with it.
Hmmm interesting. Looking forward to it
Sweetness! This trailer looks amazing. Looks to me like a very gritty shooter, and hopefully it pushes more towards a mature themed audience. Can't wait to hear more details!
This game has been on my radar for a while but got delayed last year. I was worried it got canceled or something, good to see it's still kicking and looking better than ever. Yay for interesting narratives!
Finally the game has been brought out of the dark.
Anyone else see Sauron from The Lord of the Rings at the end there?! LOL
Huh. For ure piqued my interest. Really glad to hear a setting other than the typical Europe/Russia/Middle East (I know where Dubai is, but no other games are set there and I've never seen any movies there, hence, atypical). Definitely will keep an eye out.
I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for this
