Update: After less than two weeks, the latest project from Lord British has surpassed its $1 million funding goal.Of course, it doesn't end there. Stretch goals are planned in $100,000 increments, and 18 days are still left in the campaign.

Original Story: Richard Garriott (also known as Lord British) has announced his newest project called Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues.

Garriott calls the game a return to his first love of medieval fantasy harkening back to Ultima, which he says is "long overdue."

The game will be funded in part by Kickstarter, and it will contain both a single-player campaign and online multiplayer. In general, Garriott's company Portalarium says Shroud will focus more on developing your character and their story than grinding.

For more on Shroud of the Avatar – including its housing, the world, its non-class-based character system, "meaningful PvP," and more, check out the Kickstarter page or the game's homepage.

The game will come out for PC, Mac, and Linux, and is being planned for an October 2014 release.
