ScreamRide, the rollercoaster project from Frontier Developments, is slated to hit Xbox One and Xbox 360 on March 3. Although its development team consists of talent from family friendly games like Kinect Disneyland Adventures, Kinectimals, and Roller Coaster Tycoon, ScreamRide is all about destruction, violence, and murder. In the video below, roller coasters are created to topple skyscrapers by turning the coaster car (and its riders) into makeshift wrecking balls.

Today we learned that ScreamRide consists of four different avenues of play. The most appealing is Demolition Expert, a mode that pushes the player to launch the coaster into destructible objects. Much like the Burnout series' Crash mode, the hope is to create chain reactions that level as many buildings as possible.

The second level type, ScreamRider, gives you direct control over coaster's speed and lean functions. You're tasked to create the most intense ride possible to please the riders. This includes having the car up on two wheels. You fail when people fall off of the ride.

The final mode, Engineer, adds puzzle aspects to the experience, as you figure out what pieces are needed to finish off an incomplete coaster design.

For the creative types (or those looking to create the ultimate death machines), you can also enter free-build to design your own tracks. There are hundreds of construction pieces to choose from.

We still haven't gotten our hands on ScreamRide yet, but the pitch is definitely intriguing, especially the destructive components. If you like the sound of it, put it on your radar, and check back to gameinformer.com for a review on March 3.
