The lights are on
Picking it up at midnight? Think it will be best game of 2010? Wanna trash talk PS3 owners for getting exclusive content? Do it all here without submitting a bogus user review!
I for one have a 360 version payed in full at Play 'n Trade. Being a working man I won't be picking it up at midnight. RDR will be taking up most of my gaming time for the next few months and I plan to vote for it as game of the year!
I'm picking up my 360 copy tonight at midnight and cannot wait to get into it. Hoping to form up a posse and see what the free roam is all about as soon as I get warmed up in the single player. I've been waiting for this for months and it seems from all I have heard to be worth the wait.
@ steve moore
With how awesome they've made free roam sound in the trailers, I'm contemplating starting off with it instead of the story! I'm giddy like it's christmas eve. Oh firefox, quit telling me to capitalize christmas.
I know what you mean about free roam. A buddy of mine who is also getting it can't wait to jump on the mulitplayer as well. There is going to be so much to do in all aspects of the game that this will be my gaming summer.
I am also as giddy as kid on christmas eve and my girlfriend has been making fun of me all day because of it.
i luv how gamers are posting review scores already lol.
my amazon order shipped; should get it tomorrow if it arrives before i leave work.
can't wait! the fact that gi mentions oblivion in the same breath adds fuel to the fire
oh, and i'm getting ps3 version. gonna look like a dandy with my top hat and golden guns, lol

I'm a little disappointed by the unannounced PS3 exclusives but I'm sure they'll have something for Xbox owners. Maybe avatar clothing?
I haven't really cared about the story at all, but more about the setting. Is anyone else the same way?
@ dussssstin, i'm hoping this is better than other westerns like revolver, gun or juarez. they couldn't hold my interest.
so for me the story is important. but the presentation is impressive. and online sounds great.
btw, i assume 360 would have exclusives too but only advance ps3 copies were available. so who knows.
Yeah GUN was a real let down. Even though I beat it the developers were very misleading about the scope of the game. As for Call of Jaurez, the sequel Bound In Blood is fun only when playing the preacher. He gets to dual wield and the aim assist made me feel pretty BA. But Red Dead Redemption is going to be the duke of western games!
@ warbuff, here's hoping. the preacher was playable in the original juarez too right? didn't finish, but recall i got to play as him. that was the best part. i hope redemption has lots of colorful characters like him. marsten is promising. the only thing this title seems to be lacking are multiplayer skins of blondie, tuco and angel eyes, lol
Good to see they finally took down the bogus "reviews". I felt the exact same way about Gun, and Red Dead Revolver had a fun multiplayer aspect with the many unlockable characters but was way too linear. Looks like this will be the best blend of story and setting in the western genre by far.
Dangit man. The only way I'd be able to pick up the copy I reserved right now would be to trade in my other games. I'm so short of cash. This saddens me...all things considered... It might be worth it.
yeah to judge by the dev vids the cast of characters looks diverse and interesting, and the dialog and voice acting believable. the story sounds a little cliche but compelling nonetheless. to say nothing of the jaw dropping visuals, animation and physics.
@ sir vanity
depending on what games you have, yeah this is one of those titles that could very well be worth it, given the expansive open world, myriad side missions, deep gameplay, etc. remember, gi compared this title to oblivion. i doubt it will have 100s of hrs of gameplay, but who knows? add online and the hrs will multiply
I'm grabbing mine this afternoon. If only walls couldn't hold me back!
