Rayman And His Friends Are Coming To The Vita

The adorable Rayman is coming to the PlayStation Vita in his next vibrant adventure. The portable version will come with touchscreen features and some other new surprises.

The portable iteration will come with five "Murfy's Challenges" levels that are touch-based. Additionally, the reveal trailer teases the inclusion of Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell-themed costumes. The Vita version appears to be one of the byproducts of the title's unfortunate delay earlier this year.

The PlayStation Vita version of Rayman Legends will launch alongside the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U iterations on August 30 in Europe and September 3 in the United States.

  • I wonder if the Ps3/Vita versions will be cross buy like with Sly Cooper? I'll probably get it on Vita. I prefer sidescrollers on handhelds.
  • Seems like even less incentive to get this for the Wii U. Legends will look just as great as Origins did on the Vita's screen(and better than it would look on the Wii U's gamepad), and it will be $20 cheaper with additional levels/challenges. Whatever this game was poised to sell on the Wii U on its original release date will be severely reduced now. Ubisoft really screwed Nintendo over.

That having been said, this series just works so well as a portable title, so i'll probably pick it up for the Vita as well.
  • Im sure Warrior is happy about this.
  • I was really hoping they would release this for the Vita. Good news indeed.

Nice, [insert name of author here]! Now, I can play [insert above game] anywhere. Anytime. PlayStation Vita games are the best. The PlayStation Vita combines the accessibility of a handheld device, with the power of a home console (not to mention the easily affordable price, depending on your needs and choice of payment option!). • unless they plan on making it cross-buy i'm going with wii u version as intended

  • Awesome to hear and hope it's a cross buy to sweeten the news even more, either way glad to hear about another promising title showing love to the Vita.

  • They are putting a Prince of Persia level in the game instead of an Assassin's Creed level... Maybe a new Prince of Persia game will be announce soon and they put that level in the game in order for people to have a fresh memory about PoP. I can only hope.

  • I was never a fan of Rayman. However, I might give it another try on the Vita.
  • If they're going to this extent, they should also make a 3DS version. But then, I still don't think this will save the game from almost guaranteed dismal sales when it launches amid a cluster of several new titles that will easily sweep it's prominence under the rug. What would have been successful as a Wii U exclusive is now slated to launch and be ignored the same way that Origins was. Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 will be new releases for Wii U, and GTAV will follow about a week later. Madden and Splinter Cell will remain high in everyone's consciousness, and at this point, I'm expecting the new Sonic game to drop about the same time. No one is going to care.
  • i'll buy it twice, once for wii u and once for vita this game is poised to rule over my time
  • Totally getting it on Vita.  I own both versions of Origins, but I prefer the Vita.

  • One could only hope for cross buy...probably won't happen

  • Even though I partially bought a Wiiu to play this game on it, I will end up picking up the vita version for it now. Platformers are annoying when they are played with more than 1 person, the vita version will be $20 cheaper, and it'll look better than playing the game on the wiiu gamepad. (Which is what I play most of my Wiiu games on)

  • Hey, Ubisoft, quit announcing what the game will be on slowly, I want to hear if there will be a pc version or not.

  • The Wii U version will probably be the best, still, and where I get it

  • This is great news for the PlayStation Vita, but, if you're going to put it on the Vita, you might as well also do it on the 3DS. The game could work very well on the 3DS because of the touch screen and 3D graphics. I'm still going to buy the Wii U version, but Ubisoft seriously screwed over Nintendo. You guys delayed a highly anticipated Wii U-exclusive platformer by 7 months, made it multi-platform, gave the PS3/XBOX 360 versions better pre-order bonus content, gave other versions of the game exclusive content that the Wii U version doesn't have, and you guys not even bother to release it on the 3DS but rather only release it on Nintendo's rival handheld. Ubisoft should be ashamed of themselves and will most likely pay the price when it comes to the amount of sales they get. With The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, GTA V, Saints Row IV, Madden NFL 25, and more, it's not going to sell as many as it would have in February. They really should've at least made it a timed exclusive if they wanted to release it multiplatform, kind of like how Resident Evil: Revelation was a timed exclusive on the 3DS and then went multiplatform. Anyways, this is great news for PlayStation Vita owners, and I hope anybody who buys the PSVita version ends up enjoying it!
  • That's great to hear! It's going to look absolutely beautiful on that screen and I'm sure the Murfy challenges are going to be good.

  • Well, I still can't wait for this, so I hope it's good.

  • Great for those precious few who have a Vita, but another unpleasant slap in the face to Wii U owners (myself included). Still looks like a spectacular game nonetheless. Hope it's good enough to forget about the bad PR this got.
