The lights are on
Hello, and welcome to my review of this game. For those of you who have not heard what Project X Zone for the 3DS is let me tell you, 4 different companies from Japan decided it will be a good idea to trow a bunch of different characters into the same universe, it works up to a certian degree but that is just about it.
Here is a trailer detailing almost everything you need to know about the game 9the video is Youtube property):
-over 200 different characters (friend and foe) are featured on this game, each and everyone of them comes from either a computer world 9Mega-Man, .hack) or from some mystical place (Morrigan, Astaroth). Or maybe from different eras and universes (Ruth, Erica, T-elos). It can get a little hard to kep track of everyone so thankfully there is a Crosspedia where you can go to if you do not know some obscure Japaness characters.
-combat takes place in two different planes, one in the grid square mad whoose location varies as much as the characters. The other is in a 2D plane where you can input combos like a brawler. Here is a video of the how fights take place (spoilers of characters). You will also have acces to Special Attacks as seen on the video, you can also give other units support. Be warned, bosses CAN and WILL use their own special attacks againts you so use your healing items carefully. On that last bit there are also some Skills unique to all your units that will give you an edge at the cost of XP (what you need to do specials also), some of them are: healing or givin your units (all of them or just one) a boost to the range. Items vary from healing, raising the overall XP bar to curing your units of dangerous stats like Stun (you cannot counter attack).
Before i forget there are some intermidiate spaces after beatingg each chapter where you get to equip the Solo units for supprt and also to give equiement for your units like extra armor or attack value.
-here is where the game suffers the most, when you join up a lot of different characters, it gets messy and the only thing the story is there is as an excuse for everybody to be here. It takes a few interesting turns and has some shocking moments, like when the party meets --------, or when ------- is destroyed.
Overall it is a fun game to play when you want so if you have seen the vieos and you like it, buy it but do not expect for a Mass Effect in the level of storytelling. Also, the game gets tedious after a while. This does not mean in anyway it is not a great game, just not a triple AAA game, more like a BBB kind of game.
Hope this video was helpfull and have a great week full of good games.
Agreed fully. It shoulda got advertised better, too.
