The lights are on
In this morning's Nintendo Direct, Game Freak and the Pokémon Company revealed something special for long-time fans of the series. In addition to the starters for X and Y (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie), Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur will be on hand.
More importantly, they'll be getting mega evolutions. We've got more on mega evolutions, our PAX 2013 experiences, and the upcoming Pokémon Bank online service. You can see more on the mega evolutions of the three original starters in the Nintendo Direct.

I was already sick of people talking about Charizard, and now this. Sigh.
They changed their calls too, at least charmander's. Squirtle's sounded a little more high pitches and bulbasaur's was kinda hard to tell, but that charmander was definitely different. And I'm surprised at how much I like the mega evolutions for those three
JUST TAKE MY MONEY!!!
This definitely makes the game more appealing to me. I will always be a Gen 1 fan.
I want that Venusaur....badly. Charizard is completely overrated and I'm not a huge fan of water types for some reason as I love water elements in other games or shows.
I was THRILLED the moment i watched the clip about their mega forms....and then i looked at the images....I know longer want Blastoise to mega evolve. I'm no for it. He looks too "hard" now. too much armor, not enough natural shell. This is not stopping me from getting this game though. Just saying I like my Blastoise regular in the morning!
it's sooooo beautiful! But...the choices! THE CHOICES!
